At the national presentation of the new BMW 8 Series G15, BMW France introduced the new M850i xDrive Coupe in the beautiful Sonic Blue color. The photos show that the area around the Loire, an excellent setting for the luxury coupe.

With the new 8 Series, BMW happily offers some pretty good colors in the US, not just a black, white, silver and blue. There’s a Sunset Orange, two whites, three blacks (one is called grey but it’s basically black), the cool Sonic Speed Blue and the Barcelona Blue that we’ve seen so many times now. In addition, the 8 Series can be ordered with the help of BMW Individual in just about any paint job.

This particular model from France is the top model – the M850i – which we had the chance to test drive back in October.

While there are two models at launch – the 840d being the other one – the BMW M850i is the one you want to hear about with its newly revised 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. That engine makes 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic, which sends power to a newly revised xDrive all-wheel drive system and a rear-wheel steer system.

According to BMW, the M850i can nail 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, which is right on par with other cars in its segment.

BMW markets the 8 Series as ‘The Gentleman’s Racer” so they’re not far off in their claims. It’s a great well rounded automobile that does many things right, covering a wide range of customers and driving scenarios, while leaving room at the top for the almighty M8.

Its design is appealing, the technology and craftsmanship is the best BMW can offer today, and the car’s character can be highly customized and adjusted to your needs.
