BMW M is hard at work this year with several models being in the final testing stages or getting ready to be launched. From the M2 Competition to the X3 M and the imminent unveil of the M5 Competition Package, the upcoming M fleet is growing larger than ever.

In this latest Youtube video, we’ve spotted the 2018 BMW M5 Competition which will be launched this Summer. A Competition Package is expected to deliver additional horsepower through an engine remap which will also sharpen the acceleration and driving characteristics.

BMW M boss, Frank van Meel, said last week that the M5 MotoGP Safety Car actually previews what’s to come from the more track-ready version of its super sedan.

Furthermore, van Meel added: “The data and information gathered with the safety car during its outings on the racetracks of the world are incorporated in the development of the new BMW M5 Competition”.

In standard form, the new M5 uses the newest version of BMW’s 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Now, it makes 600 hp on the nose and 553 lb-ft of torque. All of that fury is sent through an eight-speed ZF-sourced automatic that’s been specifically tuned for M5 duty. The Competition Package is expected to deliver additional horsepower.

The video below (starting at around 6 minutes mark) also unveils a slightly different design at the front with a reshaped fascia and headlights that end into the outer edge of the kidney grille.

Let’s have a look.
