In just a weeks time, BMW will finally reveal to the world the all-new G30 5 Series. Ahead of its online debut, several prototypes are still being currently tested around the world while slowly revealing more about the redesigned premium sedan.

These spy photos from Germany are giving us the first look at the lower fascia of the G30 5er, along with the design of the hood and rear bumper. The BMW 5 Series 2017 carries a strikingly molded kidney grille with headlights directly connected; compared to the 7 Series, the kidneys fall somewhat flat and let the 5 Series look even more dynamic.

The hood is also different from the 7er, with strong lines running from the top of the hood all the way to the outer edge of the grille, which also features a massive chrome frame.

The LED headlights feature a prominent eyebrow at the top which flows directly into the side of the kidney grille. Within the model shown here, the front skirt has a continuous air inlet for improving the air resistance in the front wheel arches. Earlier spy photos had already shown that the BMW G30 5 Series G30 will sport the Air Breather air outlets behind the front wheels to provide better wheel arch ventilation.

The rear end is sleeker and sportier than the current F10 5 Series with a subtle rear spoiler present on the trunk, and L-shaped headlights wrapping around the curvy rear panels.

The first customers will be able to receive their 5 Series in spring 2017 and a few months later, the new BMW G31 5 Series Touring will follow with largely identical technology.
