The 2017 BMW i3 will arrive in showrooms around the world in a few days and with it, the Germans decided to launch a new BMW i Collection. Just like the electric vehicle, the new clothing is made of sustainable resources and some accessories are even made of recycled materials.

Of course, the items included in the new collection have names that remind the buyers that they are, in fact, part of the i sub-brand. The four new clothing items launched this summer are the BMW i Top, BMW i Jumpsuit, BMW i Cardigan and BMW i Jacket. The first two are made using cupro and lyocell. These regenerated fibers are produced from natural renewable raw materials by means of chemical processes. The BMW i Cardigan and the BMW i Jacket are made using organic cotton and recycled polyester for the latter.

The BMW i Collection also includes a series of luggage items, whose design and manufacture also follow a sustainable approach. The Nappa leather used for the new BMW i Weekend Bag, for instance, undergoes a high-quality tanning process – in line with the latest sustainability standards – at a tannery in Germany that specialises in sustainable production. These items of luggage are subsequently handcrafted by master craftsmen at an Italian leather atelier.

The BMW i Backpack and BMW i Bag are made from recycled PET and sustainably produced leather and have a more functional design that takes its cues from the design of the BMW i3 seats. Last but not least, the BMW i Interactive Kids’ T-Shirt is made of organic cotton and comes with a set of textile pens – so it can be given an individual color scheme.
