The second generation of the BMW X1 successfully transfers the qualities of the BMW Sports Activity Vehicles family to the compact SUV segment. The new BMW X1 stands out with its powerful proportions and clean lines in the style of its larger BMW X siblings.

The 2016 BMW X1 has grown quite a bit over the previous model, sprouting 53 millimeters in height, with a 36 millimeter raise in the front seating position, to give the X1 a more commanding view of the road. This increase in size, and switch to front-wheel drive architecture, has also given the X1 better interior space, to the tune of 37 millimeters more rear knee room and 85 liters more cargo space, bringing the total to 505 liters. With the rear seats folded down, the X1 has 1,550 liters of cargo space.

Inside, the new BMW X1 offers far more space for both passengers and luggage, premium materials and sophisticated functionality. Equipment features available for the BMW X1 for the first time include full-LED headlights, Dynamic Damper Control, the BMW Head-Up Display that projects driving-related information onto the windscreen as in the larger BMW X models, as well as the Driving Assistant Plus system.

Petrol and diesel engines from the BMW Group’s latest generation of power units are coupled with BMW’s xDrive system a newly developed front-wheel drive technology.
