BMW is family is marching with full speed ahead and in 2015 we will see a series of vehicles being launched, from the new BMW X5 M and X6 M to the second generation F48 X1 and a high-performance variant of the X4.

Our sister magazine Bimmertoday has just spotted the new 2015 BMW X1 in Munich and for the first time, we have a chance to look at the interior design. At a first glance, we noticed some design cues imported from the cabin of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, with the free-standing infotainment display with chrome accents. The overall look of the interior design resembles the current lineup so no major changes are expected.

The navigation screen will certainly not be the only similarity between X1 and Active Tourer, both vehicles are based on the new BMW UKL architecture for front-wheel drive vehicles. While the first generation E84 X1 was available either as sDrive rear-wheel or xDrive all-wheel drive model, the customers of the second generation will be able to choose between all-wheel and front-wheel drive in 2015.

The drive concept of BMW X1 F48 is key in competing with successful counterparts from Stuttgart and Ingolstadt.

Even the engine range of the new BMW X1 is expected to resemble in many ways the Active Tourer. The F48 BMW X1 will be powered by the new family of four-cylinder engine, petrol and diesel. BMW has already confirmed that it has no plans to re-engineer its six-cylinder engine for transverse mounting. A three-cylinder engine with a 1.5 liter displacement might be used as well for the entry levels.

The F48 BMW X1 is expected to be unveiled in late 2015.
