The new BMW 5 Series had a subtle presence at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. While the centerstage was taken by the new  6 Series Convertible and the enthusiasts’ favorite 1M, the 550i was the “supporting actor” of the new BMW design language.

BMW brought out to Detroit the top of lineup model, 550i with the super duper aggressive M Sport package. The M-Sport package offers a more aggressive without overdoing it. The new front-bumper enhances the imposing look of the new 5er and adds extra sportiness to it. The package also includes an M-Sport rear bumper with integrated diffuser, and larger side skirts. With the M Sport package, we also have a special design of the tail pipes, painted in dark chrome.

Although the aerodynamic functionality of the diffuser is unlikely to be present, the new rear apron provides a wider look to the sedan.

The M sports suspension, M aerodynamics package and 18-inch M light alloys featuring a double spoke design contribute towards enhanced driving dynamics and an exceptionally powerful appearance. Moreover, optionally available features include 19-inch M light alloy Double Spoke 351M wheels.

Sports seats featuring Alcantara / fabric upholstery were developed specifically for the M Sports Package. Further interior features included in the M Sports Package comprise, inter alia, an M leather-clad steering wheel, an M gear lever knob, the M footrest, an anthracite BMW Individual roof lining and M aluminum hexagon interior trim strips.

Seeing the car in person, one can appreciate the sportiness the M Sport Package brings to an already aggressive-looking 5 Series.
