The recently unveiled BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is out and about on German roads. The first front-wheel drive BMW made its debut earlier this month at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and will go on sale this summer in Europe and next year in the United States.

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the first of its bunch and the design combines the comfort and functionality of space with the typical dynamic BMW lines.

Measuring just 4,342 millimeters long (170.9 inches), 1,800 millimeters (70.8 inches) wide and 1,555 millimeters (61.2 inches) in height, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer offers similar inside space as larger X vehicles.

BMW will offer the 2 Series Active Tourer with a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configuration.

The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is being launched with a choice of three powerful, light and fuel-efficient three and four-cylinder drive units that form part of a new generation of engines. They are installed transversely and boast a compact design along with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, at the same time as complying with the EU6 emissions standard.

BMW USA even asserts that this vehicle won’t sell well in the states yet they decide to bring it here anyway. I think they should bring it to the states but only with a hybrid drive train or as a hydrogen vehicle in specific markets with infrastructure i.e. NY, LA and MIA

Truth is that they haven’t fully decided. We think it will come in about 15 mo from now but not sure which variant. Credible sources.

I don’t find it interesting for me but the car is definitely suitable for people who are fans of VW Golf, Opel, etc… if BMW builds Performance edition of the car like Golf GTI, then I’m sure it will sell like hot cakes.
