Geneva hosts the world premiere of BMW’s first front-wheel drive vehicle. The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, while carrying an odd naming convention, comes to market to compete with similar products from Mercedes-Benz, and from non-premium automakers.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the first of its bunch and the design combines the comfort and functionality of space with the typical dynamic BMW lines.

Measuring just 4,342 millimeters long (170.9 inches), 1,800 millimeters (70.8 inches) wide and 1,555 millimeters (61.2 inches) in height, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer offers similar inside space as larger X vehicles.

The versatile luggage compartment, whose capacity can be enlarged from 468 to 1,510 liters, and the 40:20:40 split-folding rear backrest fitted as standard exemplify this model’s excellent everyday practicality.

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer comes with a wide range of exterior colors, such as Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Platinum Silver, Mineral White, Mineral Grey, Sparkling Brown, Flamenco Red Brilliant Effect, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Atlantic Grey, Mediterranean Blue, Alpine White and Black.

Two size wheels are offered for the 2 Series Active Tourer, in 17 and 18 inches.

BMW will offer the 2 Series Active Tourer with a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configuration.

While European customers will have the chance to buy the 2 Series Active Tourer this year, the U.S. market will have to wait until the second half of 2015.
