Morning news in the BMW world started with Autoblog reporting on the possibility of seeing a baby roadster at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Quoting the Australian magazine The Age, the news mention the past rumored BMW Z2, a front-wheel drive roadster that will sit below the Z4.

At the recent launch of the BMW 6-Series Convertible, a spokeswoman confirmed for The Age the new roadster would be the company’s star attraction at March’s Geneva show but refused to go into any detail. Furthermore, BMW insiders are saying the show car will not go into production, but that some design features will be incorporated into future models.

And this brings us to our analysis. The rumored roadster that will debut in Geneva is actually the BMW ConnectedDrive Concept shown in a teaser last month. The car builds atop some of the features from the previous Vision Concept, including the layering design, both inside and outside.

In the video teaser, BMW said the new concept is an “extraordinary vehicle, which will once again revolutionize driving in terms of comfort, infotainment and safety”.

We expect to see some of their latest car-to-car communication features, real-time navigation and the latest sensor technology for accident avoidance.

This render is stunning! But, I recon that the actual car will look more VED than todays cars. Either way, it’s going to be stunning!

  2. pimeto says:

Yea, thats the first render i like!
Nice job here! Well see the original!
But in my opinion BMW is making mistake by trying to get a car in every segment….even make some more segments…

  3. Laszlo says:

not bad design but FWD ? sayonara , I will not be buying it… I don’t need a FWD cool looking car. sorry BMW, people do care where the axle is…

  4. Even though it won’t be available for sale, it looks like it could be BMW’s equivalence of the SL. The lines on the doors/panels look a bit SL’ish. I look forward to hearing more about the infotainment system. I am a sucker for Pandora, music hard drive system; anything to entertain me while I drive.

  5. Daniel Hoang says:

If this was a RWD like the Miata or the S2000, this would definatly sell well. It will be the return of the fast, light, and agile Luxury sports car.

  6. Alex says:

    Roadsters supposed to be RWD!

  7. stupid says:

    FWD sucks!
RWD is the whole base of BMW..
