The new 2009 BMW 7 Series has made the holiday shopping catalog of Neiman Marcus. In an unusual but repeating partnership, BMW and Neiman Marcus have revealed a special edition of the new BMW 750Li. Back in 2006, fifty Neiman Marcus versions of the BMW M6 were sold in a matter of 90 seconds.

The Neiman Marcus 750Li was designed by the talented BMW Individual and only thirty one units are available to purchase, at an expected marked up price: $160,000. The cars can be ordered starting October 16, before the official U.S launch at the L.A Auto Show, through your local authorized BMW dealership or by calling BMW North America at 1-866-303-2696 beginning at noon EDT on October 16, 2008.

What’s included in the price? Well, beside the amazing new 7er, here is what the package includes:

  • The NM luxe treatment (that only yours will have): This amazing machine has the absolute most premium amenities available on a BMW. The inside is furnished with our exquisite Champagne Merino leather and Alcantara® headliner. The outside finish: our exclusive, 31-autos-only iridescent Diopside Black; 19″ alloy wheels; and illuminated Neiman Marcus entry sills.
  • The deal sealer (as if you needed one): A once-in-a-lifetime European adventure to meet your new BMW and the engineers and designers who helped create it. Our exclusive trip includes two business-class tickets on Lufthansa® from New York, gourmet meals, luxury hotel for four nights including Munich and the French Riviera, and rare insider access to BMW. The adventure is scheduled for April 2009, so there’s plenty of time to clear your calendar.

Interesting marketing move by BMW, isn’t it?

Press Release:
BMW CREATES LIMITED-EDITION 2009 BMW INDIVIDUAL 7 SERIES FOR 2008 NEIMAN MARCUS CHRISTMAS BOOK

Unique delivery experience at BMW Welt in Munich and breathtaking drive in South of France included in Fantasy Package
Woodcliff Lake, NJ – October 7, 2008… BMW today announced that it will offer — exclusively through the renowned Neiman Marcus Christmas Book — a limited edition of its all-new 2009 BMW 7 Series, designed by the team at BMW Individual, and based on a BMW 750Li. In honor of the 7 Series’ 31st anniversary, only 31 of these personalized models have been built and the 31 lucky Neiman Marcus customers who buy the car will have the ultimate “bragging rights” – they will be able to purchase the 2009 BMW 7 Series from October 16 only through authorized BMW dealers, before the vehicle’s North American preview at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, and before its 2009 launch date.

Each automobile also includes an unforgettable European driving experience along the French Riviera. The Neiman Marcus Limited-Edition 2009 BMW Individual 7 Series and fantasy driving experience will be available for purchase in this year’s Neiman Marcus Christmas Book for $160,000.

To truly deliver the “ultimate driving experience,” BMW, through its authorized dealers, is offering the 31 Neiman Marcus customers who purchase the vehicles an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime European adventure, in which they will be able to take delivery of the automobiles from the BMW Welt in Munich, Germany in April 2009 and then set off on a multi-city lavish vacation in the South of France. While enjoying BMW’s home in Munich, participants will be granted rare insider access to BMW before embarking on a journey to Monaco, Nice and Cannes, during which they will be able to road test their new vehicles along the sumptuous French Riviera – a fitting setting for the luxurious BMW 7 Series. Upon completion of the trip, the purchaser’s new vehicle will be shipped back to the United States for immediate delivery.

The BMW 7 Series is BMW’s flagship sedan and the new 7 Series – the fifth generation of this legendary automobile – once again demonstrates how luxury can be seamlessly combined and harmonized with dynamic performance. A completely new interpretation of style, luxury and driving pleasure, the 2009 BMW 7 Series is the product of a self-assured design philosophy and consistent yet ever-evolving engineering artistry. Among its many new features, the new 7 Series introduces Driving Dynamics Control, which enables the driver to select from four progressively sporty driving programs – Comfort, Normal, Sport and Sport Plus – with the touch of a button. Each program features different settings for shock-absorber firmness, transmission shift characteristics, engine-throttle response and power-steering assist.

Powered by an all-new V-8 engine with direct injection and twin turbochargers, the new 7 Series also represents major progress in efficiency and performance. A 6-speed automatic transmission with optimized shifting smoothness and speed promotes enhanced fuel efficiency. While official EPA ratings are not yet in, the 2009 BMW 7 Series is expected to deliver class-leading fuel efficiency. New, exclusive BMW driver-assistance systems, including the 2nd generation of iDrive, and comfort-related features, such as massaging, air-conditioned back seats and new hard-drive music storage, further add to the exceptional driving and riding experience these automobiles deliver. For greater driving safety, the all-new 7 Series also includes Active Blind Spot Detection and BMW Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection and is the first in its segment to offer a Head-Up Display, which projects relevant driving information onto the windshield in front of the driver.

The Neiman Marcus Limited-Edition 2009 BMW Individual 7 Series sedan includes a level of personalization unique to the 31 models built for the Christmas Book, including iridescent Diopside Black metallic paintwork and exquisite BMW Individual Champagne Merino full leather. Even the smallest details – contrast piping and trim – are customized. The automobile is accented with interior Piano Black trim elements and BMW Individual steering wheel in Piano Black finish with wood ring insert and BMW Individual branding.

BMW Individual has a rich history of refining what’s good so it becomes even better, and has been a synonym for outstanding technical ambition and a desire for automobile perfection. The team of specialists at BMW Individual primarily aims to achieve an overall concept for the vehicle which presents BMW customers with an opportunity to make their own personal selection from a collection of high-quality materials, harmoniously matched paint finishes, leathers and interior trims.

Established in 1991, BMW Individual was the first outfit of its kind in the industry. Its success story started with a design from Karl Lagerfeld, which was followed by another two designs over the next few years. These unusual prototypes, along with designs by artist David Hockney, were pioneering for what followed. Today, the team at BMW Individual creates vehicles that are not just personalized, but that always meet the highest aesthetic standard – and the Neiman Marcus Limited-Edition 2009 BMW Individual 7 Series is certainly no exception.
