Last week we had the chance to see the first spy photo of the third-generation BMW X6 due to market in 2019. The G06 X6 Sports Activity Coupe prototype was spotted by our friend Palbay near the BMW Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. The model seen on the road was the X6. M50i featuring production wheels and the final design which we will see in Spring 2019.

As expected, the design of the new X6 seems to build upon the one delivered by the G05 X5, so expect to see a larger than usual kidney grille, slimmer headlights and taillights, and a more dynamic front-end. From the side, the X6 will naturally retain its coupe-like roofline while the stance remind us that this is an SUV athlete. In the back, the tapered roofline and coupe-style tailgate treatment look similar to the new-generation X4. Compared to the current X6, the new G06 Sports Activity Coupe will get slimmer LED tail-lights, just like the new X4.

The new X6 will be offered with a rear-wheel drive setup in the sDrive40i guise but that will be the exception to the rule. All other models will come with all-wheel drive, from the xDrive40i to the M50i which will be using the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 as the M850i xDrive scheduled this year.

Inside the cabin we’ll see the same design as on the X5, with higher quality materials and a redesigned center console and dashboard. Most of the standard features and options will be part of the redesigned X6.
