Now that the BMW M5 rabbit is out the hat, the world is wondering when we’ll get to see the first models delivered. According to BMW, the sales will begin with a special edition model dubbed First Edition which features a few bespoke features while being limited to just 400 units worldwide.
The new BMW M5 First Edition has an exclusive Frozen Dark Red Metallic paintwork and also includes BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim with extended features. This means that the kidney grille, the M gills and the four tailpipes of the sports exhaust all come in high-gloss black. The cars will also be fitted as standard with 20-inch seven-double-spoke light alloy wheels in black while the interior will get a very individual flavor to go with it.
The Piano Finish Black applications are complemented by a plaque on the center console indicating the car’s production number (“M5 First Edition 1/400”) and pointing to the exclusivity of this BMW M5. The M5 First Edition comes as standard with high-quality M multifunction seats. It is also available with full leather upholstery in Smoke White with red contrast stitching. Of course, if you so please, you can also configure the cars according to your needs on top of everything we listed here coming as standard.
There will also be a price to pay though. These initial models will ask a premium of €19,500 over the asking price of a BMW M5 which, at the moment, is claimed to start at €117,900. That means, one of these First Edition babies will cost at least €137,400. Deliveries of the BMW M5 First Edition will begin in spring 2018 and production will continue until June 2018 at the latest.
The F10 M5 US version started at $92k. I was hoping to secure the F90 M5 for under $125k with options next July-September. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Provide UK prices pls. Pound sterling. For M5 and also for the First Edition model
That pricing, €117,900, if converted direct to sterling would be about £109,000 and that wouldn’t make sense. Will it also start €117900 in Germany? Doubt it. The Mercedes-AMG E63s (V8, 612hp) sells at £88,490. Sure, the M5 will be a better overall package but it’s not £20k better than the E63s
But you’re right though the M5 is the better car: it’s just as fast in a straight line on the open road thanks to the AWD, it’s more dynamic thanks to many reasons for instance the RWD with the push of a button, it’s still very comfortable and extremely luxurious, it’s better looking in every way (imo): more aggressive yet luxurious, lovely driver focused interior. I could go on. :) Though you’re also right that unless you really don’t care about 20K or you absolutely want a BMW and not a Merc, that they shouldn’t make it more expensive. Are you sure though that 88k is the price for a comparable E63s equipment wise?
You put it all well. And yeah, the starting price for AMG E63s is £88,490 and it’s got a lot of equipment as standard. The M5’s carbon fibre roof (which I definitely like and hope they use on the coming X4M), its newly designed M gear selector, and two red button preset buttons on the steering wheel are features I would say visibly stand out in comparison to E63s. I would choose this M5 over that E63s today, tomorrow and any other day of the week. ‘Just don’t think it’ll be £20k more expensive than its direct rival, AMG E63s, unless that price (€117,900 or £109k) is for the First Edition M5, which would make sense, seeing that the E63s Edition 1 sells at £106,780
You can’t just convert the prices. That’s not how it works. Each market gets its own price tag, depending on taxes, import charges, fees and so on. For example, most of the time, in Europe BMWs are more expensive than in the US. At the same time, the Chinese market tops both of them. As for the UK, the same rule applies.
That’s not how pricing works, this M5 will probably be slightly less expensive than the E63 S in every market like it is in Germany (E63 S starts at 122k there). Don’t just convert prices because you’ll end up with some funny results
A ha! Was thinking the converted prices seemed funny. You’re probably spot on. Thanks for clearing that up. E63s starts £88k in the U.K. If this M5 starts lower than that, it’ll be a sweet treat for a beast of a machine
Actually i stumbled across the uk document, the price is 87k£ with the VAT https://m.bmw.co.uk/bmw/bmw-cars/m-series/2017-m5-saloon/the_bmw_m5_price_list_august_2017_v2.pdf
Wow. Nice spot bro. You’re the very person! £87k isn’t bad at all. Just undercuts the E63s and this M5 matches it in performance and the interior is waaaaay better than on the E63s. I’ll wait for the X4M though. Hopefully that will excite me as much as this M5.
E63s interior and exterior is way better, engine plus twinscrolls and sound are better to
