Alpina and Pirelli presented this week an individual version of the Ultra High Performance tire P Zero that was tailor-made for the German manufacturer. According to Pirelli, this tire was developed precisely according to the specifications wanted by the Buchloe-based company. These special edition tires will equip the all-wheel drive BMW ALPINA B5 BiTurbo Saloon and Touring models. Alpina also homologated this version of the P Zero tires that were customized to the individual characteristics of the cars they are used on. Furthermore, the new tires are set apart from the rest of the range by their special “ALP” markings on their walls.

In case you forgot, the new BMW Alpina B5 BiTurbo model will need some proper rubber on its soles as it was tuned to deliver more power than ever. At its core lies a heavily reworked version of the new 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 used on the M550i model. After the Buchloe company is done with it, the power output goes up to 608 PS between 5,750 and 6,250 RPM while torque reaches 800 Nm (605 lb-ft) from 3,000 RPM.

In order to transmit that amount of power to the road, engineers from Pirelli designed an individual version of the P Zero in close cooperation with the chassis developers of ALPINA. To meet the requirements specification of ALPINA, the UHP summer tire combines sportiness with good comfort features. Tire technology derived from motorsport in combination with a flat bead seat contour and an innovative tread profile allows for pronounced transverse dynamics and precise steering behavior. Further advantages of the tire are its low wear and the good driving behavior on wet roads. In sum, the Pirelli P Zero with the OE code ALP allows the new BMW ALPINA B5 BiTurbo to tap its full potential optimally in all situations.

For the B5 BiTurbo, the tires measure 255/35 ZR20 on the front axle and 295/30 ZR20 (Touring: 285/30 ZR20) on the rear axle.
