The online configurator for the BMW M240i is now available on BMWUSA.com.
The new M240i Coupe will have a starting price identical to the one of its predecessor, the M235i, prices kicking off at $44,150 without the $995 shipping and handling fee. That will get you the new B58 engine under the hood, good for 340 HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque and an identical sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph). In xDrive guise the acceleration figure stands at 4.4 seconds flat but you’ll have to pay $2,000 more for all-wheel drive.
While the M235i’s outgoing N55 engine was a fantastic engine, the new B58 is nothing short of brilliance and will make its new M240i replacement an absolute gem. The M235i was already so good that it threatened the M2’s relevance, so this new BMW M240i should really make decisions tough for potential M2 buyers.
The M240i comes with new standard wheels with the 18-inch Orbit Gray and Michelin Pilot Super Sport non-run flat tires.
The top model – the M240i xDrive Convertible – is priced at $51,745.
If you configure one similarly to an M2, that is with leather and nav., you might as well get an M2 because the prices are within spitting distance of each other.
It is rather surprising that they are offering both and with such similar prices. Why didn’t they just offer the option of a moonroof and a couple of additional interior colors on the M2 and eliminate the M240i?
Because more variants =more costs for the M2! The M2 is developed completely by BMW M and the M240 isnt. The M240i also has more “understatement” for many people who dont wanna go the whole M way, makes total sense to me.
Moonroof on an M car is ridicoulous anyway, who needs that?
Who needs what, an M2 with a moonroof? I love having a moonroof regardless of the other attributes of the vehicle. No one needs an M2 or a BMW at all — we are speaking about wants, not needs my friend.
