Here is the follow up video to the article on the fastest performance midsize coupe. Cars.com takes the BMW M4, Cadillac ATS-V and Lexus RC F to the Autobahn Joliet race track.
The BMW M4 was equipped with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a power rating of 425-horsepower. With a 3.6 liter, twin-turbo V6, the Cadillac ATS-V makes 464 horsepower.
The Lexus RC F is powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.0 liter V8 engine producing 467 horsepower.
So let’s find out which one takes is the best performance coupe.
The RC-F is not a real competitor to these cars, it doesn’t even try ! They should’ve wait for the AMG C63S Coupe to do this test, and maybe take an auto ATS-V as well.
Drove the RC F on track. It’s actually a nice ride
I hope so it’s their performance coupe after all. But on paper it’s just not good enough… The ISF was on the limit but no this one is on RS5, C63 AMG and E92 M3 level…
Airheaded comparison. The BMW won because of its superior transmission. Yes, the Cadi should have been compared with the auto as well to make it even. An Audi RS5 would have been interesting to have in the mix too with its AWD…
I think even if all manual, the M4 is still a better track car. I drove all three cars on track and despite being a bit biased, the M4 was slightly better. More refined.
I wouldn’t buy any of these cars in coupe form, personally. If I’m not getting the added practicality (and better looks even, imo) of the sedan, I’d rather just have something more hardcore like a Z/28 or the upcoming GT350/350 R.
