The Dubai Police Department is well known for its impressive fleet of police cars that include some exclusive and rare sports cars: Ferrari FF, Mercedes SLS-AMG, Bugatti Veyron, Mercedes G63 AMG, Aston Martin One-77, Nissan GT-R, BMW M6, Audi R8, Bentley Continental GT and McLaren MP4-12C. Most of those cars are not used to fight crime but rather for PR purposes.

Now, the exotic BMW i8 hybrid sports car also joins the fleet. In the video below, the Dubai Police Department lets us have a closer look at the livery of the car. The i8 is dressed up in a white-green combination, but lacks the police lights on top of the roof. Maybe not as fast as the other Dubai Police Cars, but without a doubt the most efficient, the i8 BMW uses a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a turbocharged three-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine and BMW eDrive technology in the form of an electric drive system.

The 1.5-liter combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8, while the 96 kW/131 hp electric drive sends its power to the front wheels and allows an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).

Here is the video showing the i8 police car and another one featuring the other exotic automobiles:
