The time to create your own BMW X5 M or X6 M has finally come. The online configurators for the two uber-fast SUVs from Bavaria have gone online on the USA website over this past weekend and you can now go ahead and build your ideal M car. Prices for the X5 M start at $105,100 for the standard model and go up to $114,100 for the Competition version. The X6 M starts at $108,600 and goes up to $117,600 for the Competition model.

Those are just starters though and adding a couple of options to the mix will get those prices rising in no time. The configurator now also shows you some popular picks for every car too. For example, for the BMW X5 M Competition you get a rather nice palette of exterior colors available at no charge. From Alpine White to Mineral White, Carbon Black and Donnington Grey all the way to Marina Bay Blue Metallic, all of these colors are free. The last one though seems to be a ‘popular’ choice according to the configurator.

More recommendations are available in the interior department as well, where the black on black leather setup seems to be a ‘Trending Look’. You also get a lot of other combinations free of charge, like Black with Midrand Beige or Sakhir Orange/Black or, my favorite, Ivory White /Night Blue. Carbon fiber trims seem to be quite popular inside the cabin while Piano Black trims will cost extra for some reason.

As for other options available, I’d definitely tick the Alcantara roof lining option as well as the Bowers & Wilkins sound system and leave it at that. With the Alcantara roof lining being free, I could get my ideal X5 M Competition for under $120,000 which is not bad at all, considering the performance the car brings to the table. What’s your ideal configuration?
