BMW announces a special edition of the i3 electric car. Dubbed BMW i3 Shadow Sport Edition, the special electric car is designed for the U.S. market with only 50 units available.
The new i3 features the recently announced Fluid Black paint color and comes with a new interior package – Deka World dark grey with blue highlights. The Fluid Black creates a sleek and attractive look, which is seamlessly continued in the exclusive dark cloth interior. The addition of the sport-tuned suspension is also exclusive to this Limited Edition and allows for increased sportier handling and dampening settings.
The Shadow Sport Limited Edition is only available as a BEV model and includes 19” Light Alloy turbine wheels 428 w/all-season tires available. Also a first for the i3 U.S. models is the addition of a moonroof – a feature only available until now to European customers.
Each of the 50 units will carry a special limited-edition badge to highlight its unicorn status. The MSRP was set at $47,400 and the special edition is only available for BEVs.
The BMW i3 Shadow Sport Edition can be ordered today at your local dealership or by calling BMW North America at 844-269-3267.
no need to try to lighten up images, I got your back ;)
Let’s see it
Are the pics I attached not visible? :(
Sorry, didn’t see it until now. One photo, right?
There were 3 that I had attached. Front/side, side with doors open showing interior, and the sunroof (which looks like a pano)
Only one came thru. Feel free to email me at horatiu@bmwblog.com
Just saw them now, sorry. Got them
One very important detail, IT’S ONLY AVAILABLE IN A BEV!! :(
What is the “sport-tuned suspension”? And if it improves ride quality, I assume it will be incorporated in next year’s refresh for all i3s?
Will find out more tonight.
It ticks me off that the sunroof is available now, my first test drive of the i3 was in a euro spec i3 with the sunroof. And the sunroof initially appeared on the US options list but was wiped off before orders were taken. I would have loved the sunroof, I’ve had one on every BMW I’ve ever owned, and it would be fun to open up the car to listen to the silent drive. To be honest I feel a bit cheated, not that it’s a big deal, but I would have used and enjoyed it. And they said it was an option, then took it away, and now it’s back ☹️
The sunroof isn’t available yet. It’s only for this specific run of 50 cars. Maybe 2017 it will offered regularly.
Your probably right, they’ll most likely hold off to make sure the special edition remains “special”. It still stinks that they could have simply left the sunroof on the options list, and didn’t with no reason for doing so.
