Earlier today, a new product appeared in the ordering system of BMW U.S. dealerships. Under the code ZL9, a 2017 BMW M2 M Performance Edition is being presented as a limited edition only for U.S. customers. The dealer bulletin says the special M2 is limited to 150 units and it has an MSRP of $61,695.

The 2017 BMW M2 M Performance Edition comes with manually adjustable sport seats, basic keyless entry, without comfort access, automatic climate control – 1 zone, standard audio system and black mirror caps.

The M Performance Parts catalog has been tapped in, so the M2 M Performance Edition features black kidney grilles, black side gills, M Performance illuminated door sill, LED door projectors, M Performance exhaust system with titanium tips and M Performance coilover suspension.

It’s also only available with the six-speed manual transmission.  It will be available with both manual and DCT transmission.

All the units are only offered in Alpine White and will be equipped with the M Driver’s Package which brings the top speed to 168 mph.

This BMW M2 special edition is not the same M2 CS/GTS BMW is planning, which according to our sources is an entirely different beast of a car.
