BMW today announced the new 2016 BMW M4 GTS. Thanks to an innovative water injection system helping boost power to 493 bHP and track ready chassis, this Special Edition M vehicle recorded a lap time of 7 minutes 28 seconds around the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the world’s most challenging race circuit.

The standard M4 Coupe equipped with DCT and ceramic brakes lapped the famous Nurburgring in just 7:52 minutes, slightly behind the E46 M3 CSL (7:50) and the M3 GTS (7:48). The predecessor E92 M3 ran around the same track in 8:05 minutes. The previous special edition M3, the GTS, recorded a Nurburgring time of 7:48 minutes.

At 7:28 minutes, the new BMW M4 GTS is quicker than the Porsche Carrera GT, Mercedes SLS AMG GT, Porsche 911 GT2 and on par with Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren MP4-12C. Ahead of the M4 GTS is the almighty Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 with 7:27 minutes.

In a nutshell, the M4 GTS is a proper track car, an impressive one even considering it reaches 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. BMW M4 GTS in a special edition limited to 700 units worldwide, with 300 units of this high-performance Special Edition M4 available for the first time in the US market.
