BMW is moving towards offering their navigation system standard on all their cars. Starting September 2015, BMW UK will include the satellite navigation system on the list of standard features.

Every new BMW on sale from then will come with a 6.5in multimedia system with iDrive and Traffic Message Channel, along with other standard features such as BMW Emergency Call, DAB radio and Bluetooth.

In July, BMW 2 Series Convertible and 2 Series Active Tourer will both get the equipment upgrade from July. The 1 Series Hatchback and 2 Series Coupe will be upgraded in the fall so every BMW car in the range will have sat-nav as standard.

Customers looking for the Professional Navigation with the larger 8.8 inch LCD will have to pay extra.

The cost of this upgrade has been reduced to £900 for the 1 Series and 2 Series, and £1395 for the 2 Series Active Tourer and Gran Tourer, both of which also get a head-up display.

very good, also Horatiu have you seen this thread? http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1121701

I doubt they have been cancelled. fake rumours? My opinion is these are being worked on currently

Saw it. Who knows. Everything is rumors in the end

and most rumors about bmw are never true xD a bmw insider also wrote this “None of this is definite. I have not heard otherwise. As work is still ongoing on several models discussed here.” To me that means this isnt confirmed those cars are still being developed.

While it may become standard, how much will the price change on those cars? If the increase in price is relatively low, I can see this pleasing a lot of people who always found BMW lacking in value compared to other brands.

Personally, don’t really care. I’m one of those people who wished you could option a BMW without iDrive. I will take a BMW that included iDrive as standard but would prefer if the car didn’t have it.

Hotatiu, any idea if Nav will be standard on U.S.-bound vehicles later this year?? That would be awesome to have a two-tiered Nav system… using a smaller non-touch iDrive only Nav setup as a base model, and a larger touch-screen (w/ iDrive / gestures as second/third input options) Nav setup as the pay-for option. BOTH options SHOULD come w/ Apple CarPlay, i’m hoping!!

That is a great. But the core problem BMW needs to address is the technology. Map dvd is outdated the minute it is released. That is why technology is moving to updates / real time delivery over the Internet. Audi is on the right direction with its real time Goggle Map / navigation and fast 4G LTE. Apple also started its App Store on its Macs years ago (no more purchase of CD updates).

Not the I heard of. The guides for 2015 are out and they are the same. So maybe next year
