Guests at the Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong can expect the ultimate in hospitality, delivered with a very special élan. And now they can add another exclusive facet to the experience of staying at the hotel rated by many experts as the best in the world: typical MINI driving pleasure. To mark the 81st anniversary of the Peninsula Hong Kong, two MINI Clubman have been added to the legendary luxury hotel’s fleet. Boasting exclusive interior and exterior design features, the cars will be available to guests who are looking to make their shopping trips in the port city a particularly memorable experience. Head of MINI Design Gert Hildebrand celebrated the presentation of the cars with Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels Ltd. – the owner and operator of the Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong – at an anniversary gala for the hotel known for decades now as the “Grande Dame of the Far East”.

The design and specification of the two MINI Cooper S Clubman are the product of close cooperation between the MINI design team and the management of the Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong. The cars’ exclusive appearance is headlined by features including Brewster Peninsula Green paintwork and customer-specific lettering on the doors and illuminated door sills. The cars are also fitted with roof rails, which accommodate a custom-made luggage box trimmed in high-quality leather. This allows guests to stow their purchases away safely and in classic style during their shopping trips through Hong Kong.

With its decision to add two MINI Cooper S Clubman to its existing fleet of 14 current Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase cars and a Rolls-Royce Phantom II from 1934, the management of the Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong has highlighted its sense for diverse and ground-breaking exclusiveness. The MINI brand has also established itself as the embodiment of trend-conscious yet sustainable mobility in the Chinese port city and commercial centre, and the two cars configured specially for the Peninsula Hotel complement these qualities with a whole new level of individuality.

The MINI Clubman is a new interpretation of the classic shooting-brake concept, but has an 8-centimetre longer wheelbase than the brand’s original model. All of this extra space is used to enhance legroom for the rear passengers. The result is an impressive experience of comfort in the rear compartment, whose lounge-like character comes across even more clearly in the two models designed specially for the Peninsula Hotel. Rear passengers can relax into comfortable seats upholstered with the finest leather, a MINI cool box ensures they are kept supplied with refreshments on the way to their next shopping stop, and a rear iPod connection offers the option of personalising the on-bard music according to their own individual style. This made-to-measure specification is a particularly striking example of the customer-oriented individualisation typical of MINI, as Gert Hildebrand underlines: “The partnership with the Peninsula Hotel has given us valuable inspiration for the development of highly exclusive MINI models.”
