In today’s press conference at the Shanghai Motor Show, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO, Tom Purves, revealed the name chosen for the new baby Rolls or RR4: “Rolls-Royce Ghost”.
Despite the previous rumors of the EX200 Concept being named “Silver Ghost”, Rolls-Royce decided to lose the Silver prefix and go with a simpler naming convention.
“We are delighted to formally announce the Rolls-Royce Ghost. It is one of the most revered names in the automotive industry, evoking images of adventure and technical innovation. The name reflects this new model’s breadth of abilities. The first cars to bear the Ghost name were known not only for impressive dependability and refinement but also great flair and style. This car will be the first in a new generation of models to carry this evocative name and will give us two pinnacle product lines – Phantom and Ghost”, said Tom Purves.
The new Rolls which is built atop the most recent BMW 7 series platform, will be manufactured at the Goodwood plant and it will share some interior and exterior materials with the Phantom model. Rolls Royce Ghost is powered by a new 6.6-liter V12 producing 507 horsepower.

I guess that makes sense. All RRs were named after silent things.
Was hoping for more hp about 550 – 580 so that the new Phamton would get above the 600 to compete with the Bentley supersports.
@Carlos Perez:
The Maybach’s had more power then the Phantom, but can you guess which car was more popular ?
@Gord:
I don’t want a car that is only popular, i want a car that is kick ass and 600+ hp is pretty much kick ass
@Gord: Have you never heard a ghost scream? It’s scary!
What a name! Especially for the older people who are in this market. Will they be happy to own something that will remind them of death?
@Lance: yes, and actually, that name is among things that make them buy it.
Still waiting for the RR Zombie
