Nearly 5 months after the previous leak, the BMW M8 Competition shows its face again. The latest images showed up on several forums and on Instagram, showing the M8 Competition in what seems to be the Motegi Red color.
Seeing the BMW M8 Competition completely undisguised gives us answers to many of the questions we had. For starters, this confirms our previous reports – BMW M is indeed planning a model above the future M8 Coupe, one which takes the sportiness of the regular M8 to a new level.
Carbon fiber accents on the outer air inlets of the front bumper and on the diffuser add extra flair to the luxury coupe, with the carbon-fiber roof standard on all BMW M8 models. The M8 Competition model gets a more aggressive carbon fiber rear spoiler lip, which is offered optionally on the ordinary M8 optional.
Black exterior mirrors, exclusive alloy wheels and four tailpipes complete the confident appearance of the BMW M8 Competition. According to sources, the BMW M8 Competition model will be available at the same time as the “ordinary” M8 Coupe and, of course, will get a bit more power in addition to a sharper suspension tuning. Since we already expect around 630 hp for the production M8, the BMW M8 Competition could even tear down the 650 hp mark.
With that kind of power and the new M xDrive all-wheel drive high-performance transmission, the new M8 is bound to get an eye-watering 0-62 sprint time. The M5 does that sprint in 3.4 seconds while the Competition model is even faster at 3.3 seconds. The M8 could beat those figures while the Competition version might be even faster.
