In Sunset Orange, the new BMW M850i xDrive is not only an eye-catcher, but it’s also a car that portrays confidence with its bold and dynamic design. We’ve recently had the opportunity to drive the new M850i in Portugal, both on and off the track, while capturing the new 8 Series from all angles.

Today, we have a new photo gallery, with a lifestyle approach, that makes these images perfect for your social media feed. The car was photographed on the Estoril race track, as well as in the surrounding area of Sintra and Cascais, which offer endless opportunities for memorable and remarkable images.

While there are two models at launch – the 840d being the other one – the BMW M850i is the one you want to hear about with its newly revised 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. That engine makes 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic, which sends power to a newly revised xDrive all-wheel drive system and a rear-wheel steer system.

According to BMW, the M850i can nail 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, which is right on par with other cars in its segment. For instance, the Aston Martin DB11 V8 takes 3.7 seconds with a bit less power, the Mercedes-AMG GT S takes 3.5 seconds and the W12-powered Bentley Continental GT taking 3.3 seconds.

BMW says that the idea behind the M850i xDrive was to built the new GT like an M car. The 8 Series was equipped with a suspension featuring a mix of double wishbones up front and multiple links at the rear, along with a four-wheel steering system paired with an active variable steering ration for the front axle. The Adaptive M Sport Suspension is optional, but as always, great to have, same as the active anti-roll bars.

And then, of course, we have the award winning xDrive system which gets a rear-wheel drive character.

BMW markets the 8 Series as ‘The Gentleman’s Racer” so they’re not far off in their claims. It’s a great well rounded automobile that does many things right, covering a wide range of customers and driving scenarios, while leaving room at the top for the almighty M8. Its design is appealing, the technology and craftsmanship is the best BMW can offer today, and the car’s character can be highly customized and adjusted to your needs.

The worldwide market launch of the sleek new coupe is scheduled for November 2018 and the US market will get the M850i xDrive on December 8. The 2019 M850i xDrive Coupe will start at $111,900 plus $995 Destination and Handling.
