BMW goes social once again. BMW of North America announces the launch of their first BMW Social Shop built directly into the Facebook ecosystem.

The BMW Social Shop app is available at and gives BMW fans and Facebook users the ability to purchase a wide range of BMW lifestyle products, accessories and even BMW M Performance Parts within Facebook.

The seamless integration brings social shopping to BMW products with the Facebook social layer that connects over 1 billion people every month. The BMW USA Social Shop Facebook App enhances the buying experience by integrating various social mechanics such as Facebook Likes, Shares, Messaging, Wishlist.


Do you have a friend with an upcoming birthday? Is she or he a BMW fan? Simply head over to the BMW USA Social Shop app and buying gifts becomes easier for everyone. On the left side of your Profile page you can easily see all your friends’ upcoming birthdays. Additionally, it already provides you with suggestions to appropriate gifts.

The app also comes with its own User Profiles which pull out the basic information from your Facebook profile. Users are not required to share personal data or grant the app permission; however, providing authorization will significantly enhance the user experience and add functionality, including the ability to follow friends’ interactions and review their recommendations or what they have added to their wish lists. The shop also encourages all users to give their direct feedback on BMW Aftersales products via Facebook comment functionality on each individual product. My profile page includes wishes like the BMW 1M indoor/outdoor cover, a new Motorsport Polo shirt to go with the car and some cool BMW key cases. The app also stores my car model selection and at the bottom of the page it provides recommendations for my 2011 BMW 1M Coupe.


The BMW USA Social Shop allows for a secure Checkout and purchase right on Facebook using Paypal, Google Checkout or credit cards. BMW Aftersales says that additional payment options will be added later this year.

Furthermore, buying things on the BMW USA Social Shop page is simplified by the several filters available that give the users the ability to scan through the wide range of accessory products by model and category.

Teaser modules are also part of the page with algorithms behind them that display items based on social interactions with the products by other users or the users themselves. The BMW USA Social Shop has a social memory built into the application that stores what a customer or his friends have “Liked” or “Shared” in the past, therefore connecting friends via products becomes more fun than ever.
