From the summer of 2013, a new top-of-the-range diesel model for the BMW 3 Series also featuring BMW xDrive will become available. The BMW 335d xDrive uses a straight six cylinder diesel engine under the bonnet producing 313 hp and 630 Nm of torque.

With a curb weight of 1630 kg, the power-to-weight ratio is 5.2 kilograms per hp.

When it goes on sale this summer in Europe, the BMW 335d xDrive will have a base price of 49,900 Euros, this includes a standard eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and the intelligent all-wheel drive system. The new twin-turbo diesel is only 2,650 euros more expensive than a BMW 330d xDrive while the 335i xDrive with a 306-hp twin-turbo gasoline engine and automatic transmission costs 1,300 euros less.

The twin-turbo diesel accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.8 seconds with a standard fuel consumption of 5.4 liters per 100 km (43.5 mpg).

BMW of North America has yet to officially announce the availability of the 335d sedan, but we expect to see the powerful diesel making on this side of the pond by the end of this year.
