At the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, BMW will introduce the first four models in the BMW M Performance Automobiles lineup – BMW M550d xDrive (sedan and touring), BMW X5 M50d and X6 M50d.

The four M-tuned diesels will be followed by the M135i and most likely other variants in the near future. The new M diesels are powered by an all-new tri-turbo engine that develops 381 horsepower and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque.

The M550d Sedan offers fuel economy figures of 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers in the EU test cycle, while the Touring achieves 6.4 l/100 km. CO2 emissions are 165 grams per kilometer for the BMW M550d xDrive Sedan and 169 g/km in the case of the BMW M550d xDrive Touring.

The M Performance Automobiles lineup offer M-specific tuning of suspension, bodyshell mounting, engine and transmission mounting, springs and dampers, all standard and optional chassis control systems, and the Servotronic mapping for the hydraulic steering.

BMW M550d xDrive is available for European customers and according to the company, there are no plans to bring the M-tuned diesel to the U.S.
