As much as I am not an SUV (or SAV) fan, I must say that I can't believe this one is now ten years old. The E53 still looks very fresh, you'd be hard pressed to find another one from 1999 that fits as well on today's roads.

Well, I hope they make fistfuls of money off of it. Then they can build CSLs and 8 Series'...right?...

@Matski: I love the Paris-Dakar X5's (and X3 from this year's rally) but I know it's a far cry from the actual road car.

Will you get an X5 in Metallic Pea?

Don't loath the X5M! X5CC competed in Dakar and has won events! It's a motorsport vehicle, really it is! (tongue slightly in cheek)..

2005 DAKAR
9th overall BMW X-raid X5CC José Luis Monterde /Rafa Tornabell

2005 PORTUGUESE CUP
BMW X-raid X5CC Winners of the Portuguese Baja Cup Miguel Barbosa / Miguel Ramalho

2007 DAKAR
16th overall BMW X-raid X5CC José Luis Monterde / Jean-Marie Lurquin
37th overall BMW X-raid X5CC Paulo Nobre / Filippe Palmeiro

See! Motorsport!!

God that makes me feel old. I remember when the X5 came out - our local dealer had a sneak preview of The World Is Not Enough because of the Z8 as Bond's car. They had a black X5 3.0 out in front of the theatre which me, my uncle and cousin went over to look at before the movie. My uncle ended up picking one for my aunt immediately but I hated the thing until I drove one. Considering it's girth and height it's still a surprisingly agile vehicle.

Man I wish I hadn't contradicted my loathing of the X5 M car by saying all that.
