Just a few weeks after its world premiere, the fastest production BMW of all time arrives in Frankfurt to flex its muscles. The BMW M8 Competition is painted in the extravagant launch color Frozen Marina Bay Blue, which is initially available exclusively for the sports coupe.
The matte finish contrasts with the glossy carbon roof and the many details in high-gloss black, which the M8 Competition carries as standard to differentiate it from the basic M8.
In Frankfurt, the BMW M8 Competition in Frozen Marina Bay Blue presents itself with the 20-inch light-alloy wheels star spoke 813 M Bicolor, which are available as a free-of-charge option.
275-millimeter wide front tires and even 285er tires on the rear, together with the all-wheel drive M xDrive, provide first-class traction.
The power is provided by a 4.4 liter V8 TwinTurbo engine. With its 625 hp and 750 Newton meters of torque, the BMW M8 Competition is always to conquer the road.
According to the factory specification, the BMW M8 Competition accelerates from 0 to 100 in just 3.2 seconds – faster than any other mass-produced BMW. The M Drivers Package shifts the electronic limit of the top speed from 250 to 305 km/h.
In the interior, the matte blue BMW M8 Coupe wears a BMW Individual composition with merino leather and Alcantara. The carbon fiber interior trim emphasizes the sporty standards and, together with some red details, points to the M-genes of the vehicle.

M8 Competition is a breath of fresh air after the ugly 1 Series, pointless X6 and the 4 Series Concept with the ugliest kidney grille ever. I’ve said it million times and I’m gonna say it again, M8 Competition is the best looking BMW ever made. Absolutely magnificent, jaw-droppingly gorgeous machine.
Interesting that even before market availablity the M8 coupé and cabriolet have been axed for an other product cycle. Should be interesting what the future G82 looks like, as a M trademark is the double slot grill. Would be nice to have the M8 style/shape grill on the G82/G83.
There is still a long production cycle…so who knows…an M8 electric maybe in 6-7 yrs?
I never liked the 8-series, and now more than ever after the 4-series has been unveiled.
There’s just no way one manufacturer will ever satisfy all tastes. The least we can do, is respect one another and the people tasked to design for the ‘impossible to impress’ crowd.
