Way ahead of its unveil in 2014, the BMW 4 Series makes an appearance on the interwebs. The blurry and obviously blown up image shows the F33 4 Series Cabriolet with a similar body design as the 4er Coupe revealed in Detroit last month.

The image seems to come from the usual BMW insider Scott27 who also says that this is one of the many prototypes but the details are 90 percent close to the “real deal”. As always, we advise you to take these rumors with a grain of salt, but here is what we know about the new 4er Convertible.

First, its codename is F33 and will share many design elements with the F32 4 Series Coupe.  F33 4 Series Convertible retains the three-piece metal folding roof top. Also seen in the image above, it sports long doors and it will have signal indicators in the exterior mirrors.

The customers will also have an option between an xDrive all-wheel drive system or the classic rear-wheel drive setup. The engines will be paired to a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

The top model will be the 435i.

The sliding roof offers limited boot space therefore we believe there won’t be an ActiveHybrid 4 Convertible. The ActiveHybrid platform is currently offered in the 3 Series Sedan.

It will most likely be unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
