Just a few days ago we reported on the BMW collaboration with Chinese automaker Brilliance. The name of the joint venture was said to be unveiled this month at Shanghai Auto Show but some leaked documents are giving us an early look at the new brand: ZINORO.

In Chinese, the brand is called Zhi Nuo which loosely translates to “The Promise” and it’s expected to be show its first model at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November.

The vehicle will go on sale next year and will be slotted under the MINI brand with the first model being a pure-electric vehicle. The all-electric crossover is using the X1 platform and might be offered with a plug-in hybrid setup as well. The leaked document mentions a car with a modern design by placing an emphasis on comfort and functionality.

Zinoro will also enable the Munich-based automaker to get permission from the Chinese authorities to build more local assembly plants. Zinoro models are expected to be built at the BMW-Brilliance plant in Shenyang, China.
