Nurburgring lap times are in for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe and according to Skiddmark, the new M is 10 seconds faster than the E46 M3. At 8:12, the 1M is just as fast as the Z4 M Coupe, faster than the E60 M5, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG or the Porsche Cayman S.

BMW 1 Series M Coupe has been the attraction in the automotive world this week and certainly in the center of BMW news. The car will be officially unveiled to the public at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2011, with sales beginning in April. Official pricing has yet to be published, but our expectations set the price around the $45,000 mark.

The performance of the 1M around Nurburgring is quite impressive, especially coming from a six-cylinder engine used in the Z4 35is as well. The 1M is powered by the N4 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter I-6 engine. For the 1M, the turbocharger, exhaust system, and ECU have been revised to produce 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, though up to 369 pound-feet are available temporarily in overboost mode. Redline is found at 7000 rpm.

The lap times are still slower than the M3 CSL (7:50) or the M3 E92 (8:05), but both of these models use naturally aspirated engines, built by M engineers.
