EVO compares the Audi S3 against the BMW M135i on track at Bedford Autodrome.

The Audi S3 is powered by an EA888 turbocharged four-cylinder engine that has been massaged to produce an even 300 hp. Force-fed by a single turbocharger, the 2.0-liter engine serves up its 280 lb-ft of twist from 1800 to 5500 rpm. Power peaks at 5500 rpm, and the long-stroke four-banger has a 6800-rpm redline.

0 to 62 mph is said to take 5.1 seconds with the optional six-speed dual-clutch box and 5.4 seconds with the six-speed manual.

The BMW M135i is the first BMW M Performance Automobile with a petrol engine. It is powered by a 3-liter, straight six-cylinder engine and 235 kW/320 hp and 450 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The M135i runs from standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.9 seconds.

A slightly more powerful car (M135i) versus a lighter and all-wheel drive sport hatch…which one takes the win?
