The cat is out of the bag. Auto Forum CZ has just leaked the first photos of the BMW i8 Spyder.

A rumored cabriolet version of the BMW i8 was floating around the interwebs since 2011 and through our channels we learned late last year that BMW was looking into creating a variant of the i8 that will further validate the market for the hybrid sportscar. The i8 Spyder will run on the same platform as the i8.

And yes, the gull-wing doors are still there.

We can’t reveal all the details at the moment, but stay tuned tomorrow for exclusive photos and information on the BMW i8 Spyder.

Real photos. We can’t publish all of them until embargo expires which is tomorrow. Sorry!

Sweet. I was thinking that they looked pretty official!

Any word on when the concept debut would be? Maybe Beijing?

Just clarifiyng and correct me if I’m wrong, but I think those aren’t gullwing doors (e.g. MB SLS AMG), they’re more like scissor doors (e.g. Lamborghini).

Sure, if you wanna get technical, yes. Sometimes it’s a term that is interchangeable, but you’re right.

I wasn’t sure so I decided to ask, thanks for answering H (:

      “green bs”

What do you mean by that?

it looks like the car is getting closer to production ready with the new closed panel doors as opposed to the glass ones.

Looks very good. I like the shortened wheel base – the car now actually looks small.

This is BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics right? It’s a bit different though.

BMW i8 Spyder model is ready for pruction and will see them soon in 2014 on streets. The cool and wild looks combination makes the car really a eye candy. The specially designed interior and people are very eager to cover the launch event.
