Rendering: 2013 BMW 5 Series Facelift

Rumors | February 25th, 2013 by 9

In their latest issue, German magazine Autobild previews the upcoming BMW 5 Series Facelift. Several prototypes have been spied in the past few months, all wearing very light camo that hide the fine details behind this mild life cycle impulse.

The rendering below gives us a a look at new Air Curtains with chrome inserts, slightly redesigned headlights and a small update to the kidney grille.

Some changes will also apply to the side mirrors which most likely will get turn signal indicators.

Inside, the changes are minimal as well. Even the multi-functional instrument display as debuted by the 7 Series facelift was available starting with July 2012 production.

The entry-level model will be the 518d powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel unit producing 140 horsepower. At the high-end of the scale we will see the BMW 550i with its V8 TwinTurbo engine.

The facelift updates will apply to touring and Gran Turismo models as well, and BMW plans to introduce the facelifted models in the summer of 2013.

f10 is simply outdated from the start, interior is 6 years old (since 2008 we saw 7er) and outside it doesn’t look “new”…

I think BMW had to save some money for BMW i brand so they sacrifice the new 5er, they simply took f01 and made it smaller rather than do all new 5er….

but good news is , next gen 7er/5er will be brutal….i’m shure bmw will cut weight by 300kg (sine f10 is over 150kg heavier than e60) and new chassis will be true sheer driving pleasure….
    oh one more thing…
bring e60 look back bangle rules…i know lot’s of you hate bangle but i love his e6x lineup.

I agree the F10 should of gotten it’s own platform, that car is just heavy and feels like a 7. The E60 is better in every way except looks.

  3. Michael says:

Look the 5 series really is the best offering in its segment. I love the way this looks and am usually not interested with renderings but this seems pretty realistic in that the changes are subtle. Hopefully the magnitude of the changes made will be minimal like this rendering.

  4. Nizer says:

I just hope that they fix the crashing suspension and boat-like feel.

I’m planning to buy new 2013 535I this month, should I wait for the new facelift? Dealer said “new facelift will be on 2015 model, not 2014” is that true?
