Naturally, this is very good news to me. But it’s also nice to see news from (or concerning) South Africa covered in this blog. Compared to Europe and the US, car sales can not be compared, but BMW has a healthy following over here and it’s nice to be included in world affairs:)

  • Wooo hoo.

Well woopdee F-ing doo…. Host a world cup and now everyone cares about SA! lol :P

Nothing wrong with covering news from all around the world. The BMW family is global.

it is not about south africa ita about a new bmw model which happens to be only aviable in this particlar country. people have cared about south africa long before the world cup. or dont woo hoo follow world affairs or no history. or is it just cars and sport that intrest you

    • Wooo hoo.

What’s the whole arguement about RSA attention about??? The fact of the matter is that RSA, although not one of the largest BMW markets, accounts for about 5% of its global sales. So it is significant. As a matter of fact, some 3 Series are produced in RSA.

I cannot help but think that the reason only 300 are going to be made or should I say only 300 of these carbon fibre inserts and special mats will be put onto/into these “sportpackaged” 3 Series is to get rid of some of the these carbon fibre performance stock that has been piling up at BMW SA’s factory because the prices of these parts are just so expensive that no one would buy aftermarket. Now they will probably try and sell these so called new packages at a higher price to try and recoup some revenue out of these things. Furthermore, have you guys noticed the strength of their currency and yet a friend there told me that prices of cars like BMW never come down. So the fact of the matter is that BMW SA is probably ripping those customers in a more vulnerable third world country off with these cars.
