A while back BMW launched a new training program for those looking for the most hardcore experience on the track. The Germans already have their trademark BMW Driving Experience on offer in various countries around the world but for some enthusiasts, driving street legal M cars just wasn’t enough. That’s how they came up with the BMW M Race Track GT Training, where customers are given the keys to a BMW M4 GT4 car and taught how to handle its 500 HP.

The video below offers a glimpse into what you can experience if you decide to sign up for such a training program and I have to say it looks pretty sweet. It’s not just that you get to drive on the track but how often do you actually get to drive a proper race car? That’s what this program offers and it all kicked off in August, at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. ‘Learn from the best’ was the day’s motto, with expert instructors on site including: Claudia Hürtgen, racing driver and chief instructor of the BMW Driving Experience; BMW M instructor and racing driver Stefan Landmann; as well as DTM champion Martin Tomczyk.

After putting on their racing overalls and locking the steering wheel into place, those attending the first BMW M Race Track GT Training session were able to experience the thrill of racing up close and personal, as well as the pleasure of maneuvering the 500 HP BMW M4 GT4 with their own hands. The BMW Driving Experience experts were on hand at all times to give professional tips on the ideal racing line and explain the technology found in the BMW M cars.

The footage below allows us to hear the trembling voices of those who experienced the GT4 from behind the wheel, as adrenaline was running through their veins. It was also a great way to see how BMW M tech is shared between M cars and proper racing ones, as the BMW M CEO, Frank van Meel explains. The BMW M Race Track GT Training includes two days spent at the track covering guided driving, data analysis, pace car laps and drift exercises and accommodation.
