The Alpina B6 2.8 is the the first M30 Alpina model based on the E21 3 Series chassis. It uses an Alpina tuned 2.8 M30 engine making 218 horsepower and 270 Nm of torque. 0-60 in 7 seconds and a top speed of 229 km/h (142 mph) can easily be achieved with this lightweight B6.
Only 533 were ever built, and it went down as one of the most iconic BMW/Alpina models. The owner of this fine Alpina example put the car up for sale on eBay where he offered some more details on the car.
“This Dutch (the Netherlands) delivered (and still Dutch) B6 2.8 is in a very good and very clean restored condition,” the ad says. “Classic Data Germany has made a valuation for this exact car. The condition is marked as a 1- (near perfect). The value of the car was estimated at 45.000 euros / 48.500 dollars.”
Now that’s a quite impressive number considering the car was produced in 1982.
According to the eBay listing, the engine has been overhauled and rebuilt, but it looks and runs like new. The car features a Getrag 5-speed gearbox and drives beautifully. The paint has been redone in its factory color. The car sits on the correct Alpina wheels with brand new as good as new Uniroyal tires in the correct, Alpina specified, sizes.
The odometer shows 84,000 miles.
