There have been several speculations and rumors concerning the BMW F82 M4 GTS after it has been spotted testing on the Nurburgring. If it comes to market, the BMW M4 GTS would be the leanest, most powerful and track oriented BMW M3/M4 which satisfies the need to have a track ready car and a daily driver in one package. From a marketing perspective, there are many discussions on whether the M4 GTS will be coming to the United States. Just like the M3 GTS, there will be some issues with homologation, market choices and overall a different clientele compared to European customers. All these things will play its part in the decision making process.
Considering the current state of affairs in regards to environment preservation, ecology and emission raters, it would also mean higher demands on the financial side as well, putting the cost of owning such a vehicle ahead of all the possible advantages it might provide us. Whether the rumors are true, we will probably get some limited editions BMW M4 coming up.
Just to refresh your memory, a BMW M4 GTS would feature some track oriented parts, like a roll bar, ceramic brakes, a rear deck lid spoiler and carbon fiber additions all over the place, all combined with an uprated engine. Specifications are only known to BMW at this point, but judging from what tuners are currently doing , we can probably expect a significant increase in power, torque and general straight line sprints.
At this point, all the M4 GTS news out there are just simply rumors. All we know is that, in last few years, BMW has made an effort to bring several limited edition models to the U.S., like the 30 Jahre Edition BMW F10 M5 launched recently. BMW has also released a few special edition BMW E92 M3 cars: E92 M3 ZCP Competition Package, E92 M3 GTS, E90 M3 CRT, E92 M3 DTM Bruno Spengler Champion Edition and E92 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition.
Of all these cars, only the U.S. specific E92 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition was sold here.
Whether BMW brings the M4 GTS to North America still remains to be seen, so stay tuned for more updates!
