As announced weeks ago, BMW gave the opportunity to twelve lucky BMW fans to spend some time behind the 1 Series M Coupe. For the first time, BMW engages their customers even before the car launches on the market.
Built as a car for enthusiasts, the 1M will be unveiled in the second half of December with a world premiere at the Detroit Auto Show in 2011. As you can see from the video below, the 1M puts a smile on the drivers’ face and it certainly delivers on BMW’s Ultimate Driving Machine slogan.
BMW 1M is powered by an engine based on N54 twin-turbo delivering 340 horsepower, 44 hp more than the standard engine in the 135i and 57 hp less than the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8-powered M3. Engine is matted to a six-speed manual.
More information to come soon!

More information cannot come soon enough.
There are some photos from the test drive event at http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=456607. Lucky group right there.
Thanks Jim.
In the mean time, we got the photos too, and a few extra ones.
Horatiu B is the rat looking guy in the photo you? hah
Hopefully Porsche doesn’t go down this road…an ‘affordable’ opportunity to own a ‘premium’ vehicle.
This is as much of a ‘real’ M-car as the 1er is a BMW.
Enough is enough. I’m going with Porsche. AT LEAST their ‘entry level’ vehicle is out of reach for prospective BMW purchasers. There’s some semblance of exclusivity with Porsche.
Oh you mean the way Porsche did with the Boxster? I’m afraid that boat has sailed many years ago, buddy.
You should move up to a Ferrari.
..The boxters base price is well above the 1er no? Just sayin’
And well below that of the 911. In terms of exclusivity, the Boxster is to the Porsche lineup exactly what the 1 series is to the BMW.
And wait – there’s a smaller 4 cylinder Porsche roadster coming up in the next couple of years.
Aston Martin is making a hideous clone of the Toyota iQ,
I’m telling you, Ferrari is where it’s at, currently.
Bye Bye Woo Hoo! You won’t be missed!
Oh don’t fret, My BMW will continue to be my daily driver.
