At a first glance, it seems like we are looking at the new 2012 BMW 6 Series Convertible, either a scan from an official brochure or one of the upcoming official photos. Others in our team believe this is a well executed Photoshop.

First reports were claiming a hardtop 6 Series Cabrio, but all the information leaked from the company and the latest spy photos, are pointing towards a soft top mode.

Similar to the BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept unveiled at Paris Motor Show, the new 6er Convertible features the shorter overhangs and wider fender flares and it is wider than the current generation, with dimensions between the new 5 Series and the 7 Series.

Engine wise, the new 6 Series will feature a combination of diesel and petrol offerings. The high-end diesel model will be the 640d, powered by the N57 turbocharged straight-6 common rail diesel engine outputting 306 horsepower. The 650i will be the highest offering powered by the 4.4 liter V8 Twin-turbo engine found in the other 50i models.

The first U.S. 2011 6 Series model will debut in March of next year in the form of BMW 650i Convertible. In July 2011, the 650 Coupe will follow. Later in September of 2011, the BMW 640 Coupe and Convertible will launch, along with the xDrive variant of the 650.

    too early yet

Looks like the new one to me. Usually when these type of pictures ‘leaks’ out, the official pictures arn’t far behind, so, look out for them.

  3. T says:

It’s a Manipulated image that in it’s altered form has removed the camera arm and crew member from the side of the car, it is a real pic of official photography for the accessories catalog for the 6er. Hence why the optional wheels are shown.

  4. Laszlo says:

PHOTOSHOP. The car looks way too low to the ground for a production car. Also the wheels look aftermarket to me. I think it is an older 6 (the one just ended) and a new 6’er body P’shopped on it with a roof cleared.

No production car will sit this low. Its even too low for an M6. They need to have safety clearance and this car would never clear a gas station entrance or parking lot bars.

Hmm.. Bangle where are you man?

  6. Sba says:

Wtf happened to this car? It’s like 10 meters long…

  7. Mark says:

LOL, I always love how “leaked” photos are grainy and have JPEG artifacts all over. Today’s cameras (even in cell phones) don’t produce images like this. It’s photoshopped, no doubt about it.

  8. Andrew says:

It looks OK – better as a coupe. I definitely don’t like the wheels – feel too aftermarket for my taste.

As was said earlier – this thing is massive!

  9. Lariv says:

This looks like posh Chrysler Sebring.

  10. Obviously shopped. The side line isn’t as deep and the wheels are from Pimp My Ride. And even if it wasn’t we’ve all seen the concept so actual changes will be minimal
