BMW uploaded a video on Youtube of their upcoming BMW 1 Series M Coupe. The new purist oriented M will be unveiled early next year, all clues point to a Detroit Auto Shoe debut.
While plenty of secrecy remain around the 1 Series M Coupe engine of choice, rumors have the engine as the same one as in the 135i’s – right down to the twin turbos. However, an engine remap and extra boost send power spiraling to around 350bhp. All that grunt in a small coupe bodyshell is contained by a limited slip diff and sticky 245/35 ZR19 and 265/35 ZR19 Michelin Pilot Sport rubber.
Engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox—no automatic or dual-clutch transmission will be offered, and according to first journalists to see the pre-production models, the manual shift suits the car very well.
Stay tuned for more official information in the upcoming days!
Well, by the looks of the drivers’ face, he’s enjoying himself…
Sounds like the straight six likes to rev too. Can’t wait for the official release of this car!
What are all those funny sounds in the video? He seems to be driving very slowly??? Look at those large side mirrors!!!
