As expected, the F31 Touring picks up the design details from the new 3 Series Sedan and adds the typical sport wagon lines.

The spy photos showcase the usual psychedelic camouflage that hides the final design cues, but we don’t expect any major changes at the front or rear-end.

In Europe, the entry level model will be the 320d producing 184 horsepower. Next in the line-up is the more powerful 325d which uses the twin-turbo 218 horsepower four-cylinder engine from the 525d. The six-cylinder diesels will make their way into the 330d and 335d, producing 258 horsepower, respectively 313 hp.

BMW will also offer the new touring with the xDrive configuration.

Recently BMW of North America confirmed that the F31 Sports Wagon will come to the U.S. as well, and even though not confirmed, we expect the 328i model with xDrive to be the only one offered.

The long-time rumored BMW M135i revealed its front and rear-end for the first time. The upcoming super sporty F21 hatchback was spied in Germany by a reader of our sister-magazine BimmerToday.

The M135i will join the new BMW M Performance cars family and be sold along the M550d, X5 M50d and X6 M50d models. The rear-wheel drive and gasoline-powered M135i will be offered in the fall in both three and five door configuration.

Before the year-end, a BMW M135i xDrive will be launched as well.

The spied prototype sports the 1M’s Valencia Orange paint, and with the front and rear-end fully revealed. The side view is still slightly blocked by a light camouflage that most likely hides the aerodynamic lines running from rear to the front.

Compared to the standard M Sports package for the 1 Series F20, the M135i front bumper is slightly redesigned with blacked out inserts in the outer air intakes. At the rear, the diffuser is surrounded by two tailpipes, one on each side.

The prototype also comes equipped with matte black exterior mirror caps, a different approach from the gray painted caps found on the M Performance cars.

The engine is the biggest enigma in the M135i. While BMW has refrained from even acknowledging this model, we believe the M135i will make use of a turbocharged, inline six-cylinder 3.0 liter engine with 320 horsepower.

We believe that the BMW M135i will be unveiled next month at the Geneva Motor Show.

The spied X5 M model reveals for the first time the new adaptive LED headlights and taillights.

Two weeks ago, BMW unveiled the 2013 BMW X6 facelift that brings visual updates to the popular Sports Activity Coupe. Previewed along with the standard X6 model is also the refreshed BMW X6 M that gets a similar life cycle impulse.

At the rear, the taillights are now two LED-fed light banks which create the brand’s hallmark night design as a harmoniously glowing light mass. The fact that they are horizontally aligned and stretch far out to the sides emphasizes both the width of the vehicle and the flowing transition between the rear quarter and the tail-end.

The spied X6 M features blue brake calipers and a power dome.

No power upgrades are planned for the X5 M so expect the same tuned up 4.4 liter V8 engine delivering 555 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 to 5,650 rpm.

Both models are expected to debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show in April.

Here are the first spy photos of the upcoming BMW X5 M facelift. In 2009, BMW offered their life cycle impulse to the standard X5 models, but the X5 M model came to market around the same time with the pre-facelift design cues.

Nearly three years later, BMW is ready to offer small visual upgrades to the super sporty SAV.

The spied prototype carries light camouflage around the headlights and taillights, an indication that the full LED treatment is coming to the X5 M as well. The X5 M LCI will make use of the adaptive LED headlights, along with redesigned taillights.

No power upgrades are planned for the X5 M so expect the same tuned up 4.4 liter V8 engine delivering 555 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 to 5,650 rpm. The engine uses the twin-scroll twin turbo technology with High Precision Direct Injection. By positioning the twin-scroll turbochargers together with the catalytic converters in the “V” section between the cylinders, it minimizes the turbo lag and offers better fuel efficiency.

Inside, BMW will most likely offer specific trim and leather options for the X5 M, but no other significant changes.

We predict a premiere of the twin-M SUVs at the New York Auto Show in April.

Next generation BMW X5 is due out in 2013 and field testing has just begun. The first spy video just hit the interwerbs showing the F15 X5 being tested during winter weather conditions.

Wearing the typical psychedelic camouflage combined with plastic fake body parts, the prototypes are far from revealing their true design. We learned recently that the new 2013 BMW X5 is said to feature more flowing character lines and sculpted surfaces that will broaden the design of the X family.

At the front end, the new X5 will feature a more imposing kidney grille, larger and wider than in the current model. The headlights will get the LED treatment and the shape will follow the design seen on some of the recently unveiled models.

The taillights will be slightly redesigned as well. Using the layering concept seen on the Vision concepts, the T-shaped taillights add more depth to surfaces and are less wrapped around the body.

On the side, the character line is being enhanced, as we have seen on the new X3 as well. Expect to see more convex/concave shapes with 3D layering enhancing its masculine look.

The F15 platform is rumored to feature a modular design, a common trend in future BMWs, that allows the company to achieve significant savings across its lineup.

We anticipate a world premiere to take place in 2013 with sales beginning late in the year.

The F31 Touring picks up the design details from the new 3 Series Sedan and adds the typical sport wagon lines.

The spy photo showcases the usual psychedelic camouflage that hides the final design cues, but we don’t expect any major changes at the front or rear-end.

The 3 Series Touring also comes in three lines: Modern, Luxury and Sport. The aggressive M sports package will come to enhance the sporty allure of the touring.

Prices for the 3 Series Touring are usually a little higher than the sedan, so expect a small premium over the base price of a 328i.

Just last week, BMW announced their new M Performance cars line that will include several models from each “family.”

According to a BMW source, an M135i model will be part of the M Performance lineup. The prototype spied features the two tailpipes, one on each side, as well as blue-painted brake calipers. The M135i will also sport an M-tuned chassis and muscular styling. Under the hood, the M135i takes advantage of the same petrol unit found in the 640i, a 3.0 liter straight-six turbocharged engine product 320 horsepower.

The three-door M135i F21 gets a gently sloping roofline and a more angular rear glasshouse for a sleeker profile than the five-door model.

If the reports are accurate, then we should expect the M-tuned 1 Series hatchback to be launched this fall. We also expect a similar M135i model to be launched for the new 1 Series Coupe.

According to sources, the new X5 will feature for the first time the ActiveHybrid technology with a 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel engine. The internal combustion engine is aided by a 15 kilowatt electric motor that ads another 17 horsepower on top of the 204 already delivered by the diesel power unit.

Furthermore, the new X5 Hybrid is said to use two parallel vehicle electrical systems, a conventional 12 volt system supplied by the AGM starter battery and an additional 120 volt system that’s supplied by a generator and lithium-ion battery pack located in the luggage compartment. Rather than a conventional engine-driven generator, a compact generator is integrated in the aluminum crankcase housing. The high-power electronic system is flange-mounted directly onto the gearbox for a more compact design. Brake Energy Regeneration helps recharging the battery.

The F15 platform is rumored to feature a modular design, a common trend in future BMWs, that allows the company to achieve significant savings across its lineup.

We anticipate a world premiere to take place in 2013 with sales beginning late in the year.

Due out in 2013, the 4 Series Coupe is built under the F32 codename and for the first time will carry the 4 Series moniker.

The 3 and 4 Series will be marketed differently. The new 4 Series Coupe will allow BMW to price the vehicle slightly higher, at a premium price and to compete directly with offerings from Audi (A5) and Mercedes-Benz (smaller SLS).

Even though the test mule was covered with now widely known psychedelic camouflage, the spy video shows an overall dynamic design with design cues derived from the recently unveiled F30 3 Series. The sleek coupe will become a viable alternative to the higher-end 6 Series Coupe, with character lines running across sides that will enhance not only its sportiness, but also a more luxurious and premium look.

Just as the new 3 Series, the 4 Series Coupe will be offered in three lines: Sports, Modern and Luxury. Each will differ from each other by offering distinct equipment options.

To cater to different type of drivers, the BMW 4 Series Coupe will come equipped with adaptive suspension allowing to adjust the settings by pressing a button.

In the engine department, the new 3 and 4 Series models will make use of both four and six-cylinder turbocharged engines. The highest-end offering will be the 335i.

BMW 4 Series Coupe will debut in Spring 2013.

We knew it was only a matter of time before the gorgeous all glass doors of BMW’s i8 concept car were replaced with more conventional ones. Gone are the high-flying butterfly doors; they are now likely to be surfaced in aluminum, or a composite material.

Are we disappointed? A little. Are we going to turn down a press drive? Umm… no. The i8 remains one of the most exciting BMW’s produced to date, chalk full of firsts for the company. We expect the i8 to feature a turbo charged inline 3 cylinder – or at most a 4 cylinder unit powering the rear wheels, with electric motors powering the front, and boosting power to the rear.

The spy photos can be found at Road and Track

Expect Toyota Prius milage, minus the snoring passengers. The i8 will likely give the current M3 a run for its money – at least in a straight line. We expect BMW’s next M3 to trounce the i8 in the performance department, however, thanks to a bump in power and a reduction in weight.

Is there an M8 in the works? We can only dream of this eventuality. If we all collectively pray for it at exactly the same time, will our focused mental powers influence BMW to build it? No. Too bad. But hopefully BMW will find a business case to build it, and we can, finally, stop begging BMW for a proper supercar to take to Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and the likes.

Judging by the leaked photos, the 1 Series with fewer doors follow the same design lines as the F20 1er revealed earlier this year. There are no visible changes at the front and rear-end, with the car keeping the same bold appearance and slightly oversized headlights.

Just as its sibling, the rear-wheel drive F21 1 Series will be positioned in the entry-level luxury premium market where it will compete with the offerings from Audi, the A3, and Mercedes-Benz with its A-Class.

The 3-door 1 Series is built at the Regensburg plant and most likely at launch time will be offered with the Sport Line and Urban Line. Both offerings add scope for personalization using exclusive interior and exterior design features and equipment.

We expect to see a variety of exterior colors, such as the Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Crimson Red, Mineral Gray, Midnight Blue, Deep Sea blue, Glacier Silver, Mineral White, Liquid Blue, Valencia Orange. The M Sport package will be available after the launch with the usual exterior and interior upgrades.

For the first time, all the petrol and diesel engines for the BMW 1 Series now feature new BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. A new generation of 1.6-litre petrol engines: BMW 116i with 100 kW/136 hp, BMW 118i with 125 kW/170 hp. The 1er lineup also offers radically redesigned 2.0-litre diesel engines: BMW 116d with 85 kW/116 hp, BMW 118d with 105 kW/143 hp, BMW 120d with 135 kW/184 hp.

BMW will debut the F21 1 Series at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Next BMW model to receive a facelift is the 2013 BMW X6. The first Sports Activity Coupe ever designed by BMW was spotted during field testing near the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. Spy photographer Palbay captured some of the cosmetic changes that will occur in the MY2013 production.

The prototype spotted is the X6 xDrive50i which for the first time will feature a different front fascia compared to the U.S. entry-level xDrive35i. The X6 facelift brings visual changes to headlights, new front and rear a pros, as well as LED-powered white corona rings for daytime running lights. The test mule shows the slats in the two new air intakes that provide additional aerodynamics. At the rear-end, the taillights will receive the now usual LED treatment.

Also the middle bar in the air intakes has an equal amount of tape missing on each end, and it is larger than the other bars. In some of these shots the fog lamps are missing as well.

The kidneys get redesigned as well and now resemble the ones introduced on the new 6 Series. The grille gets a 3D aspect since the bars are not as flat as they used to be. In the front they are glossy and in the back, are matte.

The biggest change with the 2012 BMW X6 comes from under the hood. BMW will introduce a new X6 model to the European market: BMW X6 xDrive50d. The new model is said to feature the long-time rumored tri-turbo diesel engine. The Tri-Turbo diesel engine is said to like an inline six-cylinder with 3.0 liter displacement and three turbochargers. The power of this engine will peak around the 400 horsepower mark. The standard consumption is also reportedly lower than comparable diesel engines.

Other changes are also coming to the X6 facelift. The company will also revise the powerplants in the X6 xDrive30d, xDrive40d, xDrive35i and xDrive50i. All these models will receive updated units with more power and better fuel efficiency.

The US market will continue to offer the xDrive35i and 50i models, while the X6 ActiveHybrid is being phased out.

The first diesel-powered M was teased just two weeks ago and now we see it on U.S. soil at the BMW factory in Spartanburg.

The X6 M50d will debut next year and BMWBLOG learned from sources that the M diesel will run from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds. Furthermore, we learned that the car will output 381 horsepower and 545 lb-ft of torque (740Nm).

The X6 M50d will come equipped with an innovative and unique engine, a tri-turbo six-cylinder diesel.

As seen in the photos below, the M50d features a power dome hood, and new facelifted airiIntakes and LED headlights.

The internal code for the BMW X6 M50d is FH81 and production will begin in April 2012. Even though the car was spotted here at Spartanburg, we don’t expect it to be available for U.S. customers.

The F13 M6 Coupe will make its debut in Fall 2012 and will be powered by a 4.4 liter V8 turbocharged engine with horsepower around the 600 mark, 40 more ponies than the recently launched F10 M5.

The engine will be mated to a 7-speed M double-clutch gearbox. With this much power increase, we expect the M6 vehicles to run from 0 to 62 mph in less than 4.5 seconds. With the M Drivers package, the F13 M6 will have a top speed of 300 km/h.

The M6 features a lower center of gravity and we expect to weigh about 60 kilograms less than the F10 M5. Design wise, the M6 brings out an aggressive front apron with vertical air intakes for the air curtains, for improving the aerodynamics, especially at high speeds by reducing turbulence and therefore less air resistance on the front wheel arches. The camouflaged rooftop most likely disguises a carbon fiber material with an electric-operated panoramic roof.

The test mule also showcases big brakes behind the large wheels and M-signature quad-exhaust pipes out back.

The redesigned M6 will have its own attributes and characteristics in order to challenge the established rivals from Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz.

The test mule was spotted at the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal in New Jersey.

BMW will first launch the M6 Convertible in June 2012. The M6 Coupe version will follow three months later, in September 2012.

Even though not shown in these spy shots, the BMW M6 Convertible features an aggressive front apron with vertical air intakes for the air curtains, for improving the aerodynamics, especially at high speeds by reducing turbulence and therefore less air resistance on the front wheel arches.

There are also three large air intakes for the oxygen supply to the engine and brake cooling. At the rear, the typical M four tailpipes are present, along with a diffuser framing.

Our sources say the new M6 will use a 4.4 liter V8 turbocharged engine with horsepower around the 600 mark, 40 more ponies than the recently launched F10 M5. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed M double-clutch gearbox. With this much power increase, we expect the M6 vehicles to run from 0 to 62 mph in less than 4.5 seconds.

Internally built as the F33 platform, the new and redesigned convertible will make its debut in 2013.

As seen in the short video below, the 4 Series Convertible will retain the metal folding roof.

Similar to the 6 Series offerings, the 4 Series models will fit between the 3 and 5 Series. By offering a higher positioned convertible, BMW will compete on the market with Audi and Mercedes and their latest offerings. The new 4 Series will also allow BMW to price the vehicle slightly higher, at a premium price. The overall dynamic design would appeal to a younger demographic as well and will be a viable alternative to the high-end 6 Series Convertible.

Like all the new models coming out of the Munich gates, the 4 Series Convertible will come equipped with an adaptive suspension that can adjust the sportiness or comfort with a simple button touch. The equipment list and options will virtually match the offerings seen in the new 3 Series F30.

We expect the 2013 BMW 3 Series Convertible to make its debut next fall at the Paris Motor Show.

The controversial X6 M was spotted in a slightly disguised form by spy photographer Palbay at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Judging by the spy photos, the facelifted X6 M will sport a more aggressive front fascia, redesigned the X6 headlights, as well as LED-powered white corona rings for daytime running lights. At the rear, the taillights will receive the now usual LED treatment.

The kidneys get redesigned as well and now resemble the ones introduced on the new 6 Series. The grille gets a 3D aspect since the bars are not as flat as they used to be.

Under the hood, most likely the X6 M will keep the current 4.4 liter V8 engine delivering 555 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb-ft of torque from 1,500 to 5,650 rpm. The engine uses the twin-scroll twin turbo technology with High Precision Direct Injection. By positioning the twin-scroll turbochargers together with the catalytic converters in the “V” section between the cylinders. The powerful engine serve as basis for the powerplant found in the new M5.

The BMW X6 M and X5 M will continue to be offered side-by-side in the United States, and we expect a price point similar to the current one.

In late 2012, BMW will introduce to the market the 4 Series family consisting of a Coupe and Convertible model.

For the first time BMW has decided to split the popular and high volume seller 3 Series into two separate families. The 3 and 4 Series will be marketed differently. The new 4 Series Coupe will allow BMW to price the vehicle slightly higher, at a premium price.

The overall dynamic design would appeal to a younger demographic as well and will be a viable alternative to the high-end 6 Series Coupe. By offering a higher positioned coupe, BMW will compete on the market with Audi and Mercedes, which is said to introduce a smaller SLS model.

A new spy video of the 2014 BMW M3 surfaces on the interwebs. As seen in previous spy shots and videos, the M3 sedan sports the typical wide track, an M front bumper, full LED headlights, and the signature four exhaust pipes at the rear.

The design of the 2014 BMW M3 Sedan builds atop the newly unveiled F30 3 Series and will incorporate the typical M design cues, both on the inside and outside. Update: BMWNA says the 2013 BMW M3 Sedan will continue to use the E90 platform. The redesigned M3 comes to market as a 2014 model.

Hidden underneath the psychedelic camouflage lay aerodynamic elements, along with convex and concave panels, reinforce once again the “Motorsport” in the badge.

BMW will continue to offer the new M3 in three body variants: sedan, coupe and convertible. Just a few weeks ago, our sources spoke to us on the naming convention of the new M3 and M4 offerings. The M3 sedan will carry the internal code F80, while the M4 coupe takes on the F82 code.

Judging by the engine sound featured in the video below, the M3 prototype does not have the V8 powerplant under the hood, but rather a six-cylinder unit.

Our sources say that for the past year BMW has been testing different powerplants in M3 prototypes, from inline-six turbo engines, to a newly designed and unique V6.

What will be the final powerplant choice? We are inclined to believe that BMW will indeed push the envelope with a special V6 engine that might utilize three turbochargers. The engine should produce around 450 horsepower.
