Let's start with the conclusion this time:
"The Bottom Line: BMW outdoes itself—again."
Pretty good review by the fellows at BussinessWeek and in my opinion BMW gets the deserved thumbs-up. In case you missed our article, back in March, our colleague Josh has reviewed the BMW M3 E92(coupe) as well and he had only great things to say about it.
Here is an excerpt from their review:
For power, performance, and near-perfect engineering, the new BMW M3 may well be worth the $17,000 premium over the regular 3 Series
BMW (BMWG) set itself up for a potential fall with the introduction last year of the latest generation of its 335i sedans and coupes. The 335i is such a sweet-handling car—and so incredibly quick—that it eclipsed the previous generation M3, which is supposed to be the fastest model in the 3 Series lineup.
Indeed, BMW temporarily dropped the M3 for the '07 model year, and it wasn't clear to many outsiders how the company could surpass the 335i by a sufficient margin to justify the M3's traditional premium price. I've just test-driven the '08 M3 Coupe, the fourth generation of the M3, and I have to say BMW did a masterful job with it.
The new M3 eclipses the 3 Series in dozens of small increments that add up to notably better handling. Whether the M3 is worth its premium price is another matter. The M3 Coupe starts at $58,575, including a $1,300 federal gas guzzler tax—which is 17 Gs more than the $41,575 starting price of the '08 335i Coupe. Personally, I'd probably bank the extra $22,500 and content myself with a BMW 228i, which is a bit slower and starts at a "mere" $36,075, but that's just me.
If you want the crème de la crème in this class of BMW, pay up for the M3.

Do you guys remember the amazingly moded BMW M3 by the guys from Ind-Distribution? In case you did not know there are the official U.S importer for Genuine Eisenmann products.
Nate just sent us some more photos of their M3 Project and the car is …let's just say….very sexy looking.
We're hoping to have a list soon with all the modifications done by them and maybe even a final quote, just to see how much the sexiness will set us back :)
The BMW M3 Convertible has already been released in the UK. The fellows at Car Enthusiast had the privelege to test drive the all new M3 Convertible with M-DCT. One of the most exciting features on the M3 Convertible is the introduction of BMW's new M DCT dual-clutch transmission.
But let's see what the had to say about their test drive.
In the Metal
At first glance it is clear that the Convertible is from the same stable as its M3 saloon and Coupé siblings. Forward of the A-pillar, there are no differences, so that means the same aggressive bumper and lights, the sculpted wings and vented bonnet, a pronounced bonnet bulge and the signature vents in the front wings. With the hard top raised, the M3 Convertible takes on a slightly odd appearance, with the glasshouse noticeably moved forward from the Coupé. Top-down, the flat rear deck and quad exhausts ensure that heads are turned, and not just because of the noise emanating from them.
Inside, it's much the same as any of the other M3s, which means a generous level of standard equipment, high qualityand nicely tactile switchgear. Unsurprisingly, there isn't as much room in the rear seats, nor will the (optional) wind breaker fit if you are carrying passengers.

Back in January, when Lexus announced their IS-F model, we reported that their new car will go into direct competition with the BMW M3 and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
We have already seen many reports comparing the C63 AMG to BMW's M3, but we haven't seen any videos showing the Lexus IS-F against the other models. The fellows at Car Magazine UK have decided to put all these three models head-to-head and show us what they can do.
Here are the specs on all the three cars that were tested:
The outcome? Well, you'll see….

Ever wondered which closely matched BMW would fair to be the king of the ultimate driving machine? Many have compared the new BMW 135i against the E46 M3 and then up against the 335i.
Edmunds has an interesting test video of the close competition of the E46 BMW M3 against the new 135i and 335i. The 135i and 335i share the same engine which is an all new 3.0-liter inline 6 cylinder twin turbo producing 300 horsepower. Although the 0-60 times were totally off for Edmund’s M3 test, it is apparent that the M3 has an edge over both the 135i and 335i. Many times the test drivers get it all wrong and sometimes the get it right such as where the Automotive Addicts Blog posted the 135i running a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds. The test goes on to show that the M3 had the better track time while the 135i and 335i are still decent performers that deserve a serious look by all serious automotive enthusiasts.
We have received a lot of requests from our readers regarding high quality wallpapers that we should post on our blog more frequently. Since I also love to change my desktop background quite often, I definitely understand the multiple requests that were sent in.
So, let's start today with some wallpapers of the upcoming 2009 BMW M3 Convertible(E93). I came across these high quality shots on the UK website, NetCarShow.com. We will be posting a few of them on here, but if you would like to grab the full gallery, please visit the netcarshow website.
Btw, the red looks amazing on the convertible.
This has to be one of the best looking modded M3 I have seen so far. The car looks simply amazing and it makes the white really stand out in a crowd of bimmers.
My favorite part on this M3: the CSL trunk lid. But I cannot also ignore how beautiful the wheels are.
The M3 belongs to the guys at Ind-Distribution and they are the official U.S importer for Genuine Eisenmann products.

The all new E92 BMW may have just hit U.S. dealers but has been around for 6 months in Australia. The new M3 is twice as popular as the previous generation E46 M3 Coupe. BMW has announced that it has sold 263 M3 Coupes during the first six months the car has been on the market in Australia, compared to just 132 examples of the E46 M3 Coupe during its first six months on the market. The success is no doubt linked to the High-Revving V8. I wonder if this will be more popular here in the states where economy is bad and gas is high.[Source: Left Lane News]

I think this sounds pretty nice from Eisenhaus. I'll try to find some good footage of the Dinan exhaust as well. Enjoy

If you've been reading BMW Blog lately, you have definitely seen some interesting marketing tactics by BMW.
I find this commercial to be very clever and entertaining. Listen to that engine roar that scares the dog.

HAMANN has just released a tuning package for the V8-powered BMW M3 Coupe E92 that incorporates a series of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades. While the majority of us would be happy with a standard M3, HAMANN wasn't satisfied with a stock version, they offered two upgrades. The first tuning package increases the 4.0-liter V8’s output to 435 Hp and delivers an additional 25 Nm of torque (series: 400 Nm) on the crank shaft. With the removal of the speed limiter, the M3 can go up to a top speed of 300 km/h or 187 mph. The second kit called Sportkit HM/M +35 rises output to 455 Hp and toque to 448 Nm. In this case, the M3’s speedometer doesn’t stop until it reaches 320 km/h or 199 mph.
They upgrade the already perfect suspension and brakes. The car looks amazing until you see the spoiler, for me the spoiler kills it. I was so happy when I saw the car especially since I love black on black, with black rims but that spoiler is too much, but if I took the spoiler out this what be the nicest M3. Personally, I'd also limo tint and black out tail lights maybe, but awesome job HAMANN. Check out pictures below[Source:Car Scoop]-More pictures after the jump!

I love BMW's videos, especially the ones where they show how the actual commercials were filmed. A few days ago, BMW has released a promo video showing the all new BMW M3 along with their amazing V8 engine.
A couple of days later, new footage has been released, this time showing how the promotional video has been put together. Both of them are quite interesting.
P.S I was always fascinated by the background music and voice that they choose
Watch the first video, and you will understand what I mean by this.

First, let me say I love the M3 and I obviously love BMW. The thing I hate is when people compare the new Nissan GT-R to the new M3.
The GT-R is faster way faster, it's like a super car and should be compared to autos like Porsche Carrera GT, Corvette Zr1 etc….
Here is a video of the GT-R going 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. I also read on several reviews that the car handles better then german cars, which is truly amazing, since BMW always used to praise their top notch car handling .
This car is amazing also because it's a 6 cylinder, weighs about 3,800 pounds, and it's relatively cheap for what you get . I think the new M3 is a great car and I repeat myself, I love it. Looks wise seems to be above the Nissan.
I'd rather have the M3 as a daily driver, but the fact is that the M3 is supposed to be a performance car, a fast car that sets standards. In my opinion, BMW could have made the new M3 a tad faster, I mean the GT-R did it, it's cheaper or around same price, a 6 cylinder and a little bit more horse power than the M3.
With that being said, please watch the video, and let's hear your comments.

IdeaCity was tired of CGI graphics. They decided to study M engines in Munich, where manifolds were cut, cylinders were shaved and lighting holes were drilled to mount special cameras, lenses and lights.
After two weeks of intensive study and preparation, the team took another four, 20-hour days to film what happens inside the 420 hp mill during a single revolution. The completed spot was filmed at 10,000 frames-per-second and doesn't utilize any form of computer-generated effects. Just awesome, I'm surprised because people go the short cut way or try to make CGI graphics looks so real to impress, but I'm personally more fascinated with the real thing.

At the beginning of March, we have the chance to test drive the 2008 BMW M3. Josh has done a good job sharing with us his impressions on the new M3. This week, our colleagues at Jalopnik had the opportunity to review the M3, but this time, the sedan version.
Here are some bits from their review:
The 2008 BMW M3 puts the world around it in fast forward. No, this isn't some function hidden deep within the still befuddling iDrive or a secret performance setting achieved by hitting B, A, B, A, Select, Start; just an inherent ability to twist the world over its power dome and past its windscreen at a nearly impossible speed. Neither is this the kind of garden-variety performance achieved by the average big engine, small car formula. Remember how cheesy '80s action shows would speed up the tape during chase scenes? The resultant mix of unbelievably flat cornering and inexplicably rapid oncoming traffic just ended up being unbelievable and inexplicable. But not in this new M3.
This thought first occurs as I'm shifting from third to fourth on the same wet, windy and narrow road in the Catskills that had the Jaguar XKR tying itself in knots. Burying the throttle well into three figures that thought comes just after I ask myself if this is a bad idea. The answer is no.
The fast cars following disappear into the spray as the M3 crests yet another apex and accelerate out onto the flat corners beyond. The BMW making that impossibly fast, flat cornering believable, redefining the way in which I think a car should perform. I almost feel sorry for whatever it is I have to drive next.
That the M3 eschews conventional fast car wisdom makes it all the more special. Not present is any kind of manumatic or all wheel drive. The traction control is easy to completely defeat even if the power and electronic damping controls are baffling. The push-random-buttons-then-get-on-with-driving-it setting seems to work for me.
