A new month and a new leak for the BMW Group (original link here). With just a week to go before its world debut, the stunning BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe shows up on social media. The images leaked give us a detailed side and rear view of the 8er Gran Coupe and reaffirms our initial statement – This is one of the best looking BMWs in the last decade. The design builds upon the new 8 Series Coupe, as one would expect, but it adds the extra touches of a four-door coupe – a sloping roofline and an elegant, elongated rear.

The added space will mean much improved space inside, especially for back seat passengers. The Gran Coupe will be the most expensive member of BMW’s 8 Series lineup and will be the largest model in the range.

Not officially confirmed, but we can already assume that engines are shared across the 8 Series range. That means two Gran Coupe models will be offered: the 840d and M850i. The diesel will be the cheaper of the two and powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 315 hp and 502 pound-feet (680 Newton-meters) of torque.

The M Performance version will use a 4.4 liter V8 powerplant with 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet (750 Newton-meters).. Both will have an eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive to get the power to the road.

Next year, BMW will also introduce a M8 Gran Coupe, aimed at taking on the Porsche Panamera Turbo and Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door.
