Yet another video from the realm of incredible drag races made its way to us and this time we’re looking at two rivals that have gone at it before, but with totally different results when the cars were stock. While the BMW M4 has a hard time to keep up with a Corvette Z06 in a straight line over the 1/4 mile in stock guise, this time around we’re not looking at a stock racer. Instead, the 431 HP of the M4 were multiplied and the resulting 650 HP mean business here.

In case you’re curious about how that figure was achieved, the owner explains all about it at the end of the video, talking about the extensive work that went into building the S55 engine to this spec. Of course, judging by the result of the race and the fact that Schmiedmann was both the tuner of the M4 and one of the sponsors of the channel the race was published on, we have reasons to believe the specs were understated.

On the other hand, the Chevrolet Corvette has a considerably bigger engine to begin with. Therefore, the tuning potential is a lot higher and yet, it only comes with some 10 HP more than the Bimmer. The Z06 has 660 HP coming out of the 6.2-liter V8 under its hood in standard guise and will do 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, even with the 7-speed manual gearbox, as is the case with the car here.

Both cars are rear-wheel drive so the rolling launch makes sense for both drivers. The key difference between the two though hides in the gearbox department as the M4 uses a 7-speed DCT box while the Z06 comes with its iconic 7-speed manual. The result of the race reflects the different approaches but is also quite a rollercoaster that you might very well enjoy.
