Largely considered the best driving BMW of the modern era, the BMW 1 Series M continues to appreciate in value, despite already being six years old. The fact that fans are so fond of it, combined with extremely low-volume sales numbers makes the 1 Series M a highly desirable and valuable car. Finding one anywhere near its original MSRP is a win for second-hand buyers.

So to see this specific BMW 1 Series M currently posted at just about its original cost, we immediately take notice. It’s currently up for sale on Bring-A-Trailer and, at the time of writing this, is priced at $47,000, which is about exactly its original cost.

What’s even more exciting about this BMW 1M is that it only has 29,000 miles on it, making it very fresh. We expect the price to spike from here but it’s currently priced low. It’s also in superb condition.

The only real downside, if you can even call it that, is the fact that it’s white. The desirable color is Valencia Orange, not Alpine White, so collectors won’t be too enthused about the idea of owning a white one. Though, in sane people, that lack of enthusiasm will soon fade, when they realize that a white BMW 1 Series M is exactly that — a 1 Series M. So the color is meaningless.

Under the hood lies a tuned variant of BMW’s old twin-turbocharged, 3.0 liter N54 engine. It’s funny how, before anyone had driven the 1M, its biggest complaint was its engine, as it wasn’t a proper, bespoke M engine. So fans were claiming that it wasn’t a proper M car. Turns out they were wrong. And any complaints about it not being a proper M engine quickly fade as soon as its 335 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque are felt.

It also handles better than anyone could have imagined. Its steering is telepathic, its chassis is brilliant and its dynamics are unmatched by any other BMW M product of recent years. It’s absolutely incredible. So not only is the 1M a true M car but its better than anything the M Division has made since. If you have the chance to buy this specific one for anywhere near its original price, do so. Not only will you get a car that will provide years and years of joy, it will also continue to appreciate. Not a bad little investment.
