The new G20 BMW 3 Series is nearing production while the current F30 model is heading towards its inevitable end. Just yesterday we got the chance to take a look at the new instrument cluster of the upcoming G20 model and we were in for a surprise. While we assumed that the new model will get a step up in terms of interior design we didn’t expect it to be so close to what the 8 Series concept showed when it was unveiled.

However, it seems like the new 3 Series will bring a couple of interesting upgrades to the table. From the digital instrument cluster to the new center console and the redesigned dash, things are looking good. Chip in the performance factor and the rumored carbon fiber roof and M Performance models and things are getting exciting. What remains to be seen is exactly what specs the new models will have but judging by the video below, the new 3er might just surprise us with its performance.

Earlier this month two camouflaged prototypes were caught at a gas station before heading out towards the Nurburgring to punish some tires. Luckily spy photographers were on the scene and they shot the two heading out and then running fast on the Ring. The two looks composed and well balanced, just as we’d expect. Judging by how much body roll they show – or, better said, don’t show – the new 3er seems like it lost some valuable weight while being developed.

Of course, there’s still a long way to go before the new 3 Series actually comes out but excuse us while we get excited about what may possibly be the biggest upgrade from one generation to the other that we’ve seen in the long history of the 3 Series. Chip in the fact that it may also provide an electric version and bring a hybrid choice to the table and things are looking extremely good for those interested in one.
